What is CarWhere?

CarWhere is an independent U.S. car-shopping and pricing platform that combines vehicle listings, verified buyer transaction data, VIN research, dealer-quote analysis, and negotiation tools. It helps buyers see what people paid, calculate a target price, identify unnecessary fees and add-ons, and compare vehicles before buying.

Our mission is to make car buying a data decision.

Dealers understand the numbers behind every deal. Most buyers do not. CarWhere exists to close that information gap by giving consumers real transaction prices, vehicle research, dealer-cost benchmarks, and quote-level analysis before they sign.

We believe every buyer should be able to understand what a vehicle is worth, what other buyers paid, which charges are unnecessary, and what to say next — without being sold to a dealership as a lead.

Why CarWhere exists

Listing sites show what dealers are asking. Traditional price guides estimate what a vehicle should be worth. Neither necessarily shows the complete deal another buyer actually signed.

CarWhere turns submitted buyer paperwork into practical pricing benchmarks so shoppers can negotiate using real outcomes instead of advertised prices.

How the data works

  1. 1Buyers submit completed deal sheets.
  2. 2Personal information is removed.
  3. 3Vehicle, pricing, incentive, fee, and VIN details are reviewed.
  4. 4Approved transactions become anonymized benchmarks and comparable deals.

“Verified” means a submission was reviewed against its deal paperwork before approval — it does not mean we audited the dealer's books. The full methodology explains exactly what review covers, and live dataset statistics show current coverage. Browse the results on What People Paid.

  • A dealership
  • A lead-selling platform — we do not sell your information to dealers
  • Pay-to-play — dealers cannot pay to alter buyer-submitted pricing data

What our data can't tell you

Transaction coverage varies by vehicle, trim, region, and date — some models have deep comps and others are thin. Dealer invoice figures are estimates and may not represent a dealer's final net cost. CarWhere's VIN and pricing tools do not replace a comprehensive title, accident, odometer, ownership, or service-history report.

The company

CarWhere was founded in 2024 and operates independently in the United States. The pricing benchmarks, market studies, and reliability analyses across the site are produced by CarWhere Research, our data team, using the methodology linked above.
