Cadillac Escalade engines, horsepower and mpg

Cadillac rates the 6.2L V8s on premium gasoline. EPA's 2027 listing gives one rating per drivetrain and does not list the ESV separately. A 3.0L turbo-diesel was offered from 2021 through 2024 (EPA 21/27/23 mpg for the 2024 2WD); EPA lists no diesel Escalade for 2025–2027, and the 2025 spec sheet shows only the 6.2L gas engines. Fuel tanks hold about 24 gal (Escalade) and 28.3 gal (ESV).

Escalade vs Escalade ESV: size, cargo and price

The ESV is the extended-length Escalade. It shares the standard model's engines, trims and technology but is 15 inches longer (226.9 in vs 211.9 in) on a 13-inch-longer wheelbase (134 in vs 121 in). The extra length goes mostly to the third row and cargo area: third-row legroom grows from 34.9 to 36.7 in, and space behind the third row rises from 25.5 to 41.5 cu ft.

For 2027 the ESV costs $3,000 more than the matching Escalade in most trims (Sport, Platinum Luxury, Platinum Sport and V-Series) and $6,000 more in Luxury trim. Cadillac rates the ESV to tow 8,000 lbs, 100 lbs less than the standard 2WD Escalade.

2027 vs 2026 Escalade: what changed in the lineup

Cadillac.com's 2026 Escalade lineup started with a base Escalade 1SA at $91,100 (ESV 1SA $94,100), followed by Luxury ($102,100), Sport ($102,700), Platinum Luxury ($119,900), Platinum Sport ($120,400) and V-Series ($168,000). The 2027 lineup lists no 1SA, so the starting price is now the Luxury trim at $102,700.

Prices for the trims carried over rose by $600 (Luxury and Sport), $4,300 (Platinum Luxury and Platinum Sport) and $1,300 (V-Series). The powertrains, dimensions and tow ratings on cadillac.com are unchanged. For 2027, Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance comes with a three-year OnStar One plan.

Is there a Cadillac Escalade diesel?

Not new. The fifth-generation Escalade came with an optional 3.0L turbo-diesel inline-six from 2021 through the 2024 model year. EPA rated the 2024 diesel 21/27/23 mpg with 2WD and 20/26/22 mpg with 4WD, roughly 6–7 mpg better combined than the 6.2L V8.

From 2025 EPA lists only the 6.2L V8 and the supercharged Escalade-V, and Cadillac's 2025 specification sheet shows only gasoline engines. Shoppers who want the diesel need a 2021–2024 used model.[16][9][4]

Inside the 2025–2027 Escalade: screens, seating and Super Cruise

The 2025 refresh brought the curved pillar-to-pillar 55-inch Horizon Display (total diagonal) that the electric Escalade IQ introduced, with Google built-in and passenger-side infotainment. The available Executive Second Row package adds stowable tray tables, 12.6-inch personal screens, a rear command center, massaging seats and a 42-speaker AKG audio system.

Cadillac lists 2027 Luxury models with 12-way heated and ventilated front seats, a 21-speaker AKG system, SkyGlass roof and 22-inch wheels; 24-inch wheels, the largest Escalade has offered, are available. Magnetic Ride Control and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension come on upper trims or in the Touring Package. Every 2027 Escalade lists Super Cruise with a three-year OnStar One plan.

Escalade fuel economy by drivetrain

The 6.2L V8 has stayed at 16–17 mpg combined across the fifth generation. EPA rates the 2027 Escalade 2WD at 15 city / 19 highway / 17 combined and the 4WD at 14/18/16. The supercharged Escalade-V is rated 11/17/13.

Older generations were thirstier: the 2002 6.0L AWD was rated 12 mpg combined, and the 2007–2008 6.2L AWD 14 mpg. The 2009–2013 Escalade Hybrid was rated 20–22 mpg combined.[5][6][7][13][12]
