Aisin AS69RC: years, specs & known problems
By CarWhere Research · Updated
The Aisin AS69RC is the heavy-duty six-speed automatic Ram paired with the High Output 6.7 Cummins in the Ram 3500 from 2013 through 2024. It carried ratings from 385 hp and 850 lb-ft in 2013 up to 420 hp and 1,075 lb-ft for 2021–2024, with a deep 3.75:1 first gear.
Ram introduced the Aisin AS69RC for 2013 as the transmission for its new High Output 6.7 Cummins, which made 385 hp and 850 lb-ft in the Ram 3500 pickup, while the 68RFE stayed with the standard-output engine. The Aisin uses a 3.75:1 first gear versus 3.23:1 in the 68RFE, with the same 0.63:1 top gear.
As High Output torque climbed to 1,000 lb-ft for 2019 and 1,075 lb-ft for 2021, the Aisin remained the transmission behind it. For 2025 Ram replaced both six-speeds in its 2500 and 3500 pickups with the TorqueFlite HD eight-speed. We found no NHTSA recall naming the AS69RC in the Ram 3500 records we checked.
