The 2019 redesign launched with a 410-hp 6.4L HEMI and two Cummins tunes (370 hp/850 lb-ft and, on the 3500, a 400-hp/1,000 lb-ft High Output); the 2019 2500 Tradesman started at $33,395 plus $1,695 destination. Maximum towing grew from 35,100 lb at launch to 37,020 lb for 2027.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Frequently asked questions
How much can a Ram 3500 tow?
Up to 37,020 lb in Ram's 2027 chart, with the 6.7L Cummins HO, dual rear wheels, 4x2 and a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch (36,620 lb in 4x4 form). The 2024 truck was rated at 37,090 lb and the 2019 launch truck at 35,100 lb.
What is the Ram 3500 conventional towing capacity?
Ram requires a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch for 3500 trailers over 23,000 lb, so 23,000 lb is the practical ceiling on a ball hitch. Ram limits tongue weight on the 3500's Class V receiver to 2,300 lb.
How much can a Ram 3500 tow with the 6.4L HEMI?
Ram's 2027 chart rates the gas 3500 at up to 18,140 lb (dual rear wheels, 4x2, 4.10 axle). The HEMI also gives the highest payload, up to 7,580 lb.
What are the Ram 3500 trim levels?
Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Limited and Limited Longhorn, each with the 6.4L HEMI standard and the 6.7L Cummins HO available. Off-road Rebel, Power Wagon and Warlock trims are 2500-only.
Which Ram 3500 should I choose: single or dual rear wheels?
Dual rear wheels carry the big ratings: about 37,000 lb of towing and up to 7,580 lb payload. Ram's 2027 chart tops out at 26,940 lb for single-rear-wheel diesel trucks, which is still above the 23,000-lb conventional-hitch limit.
How much does a Ram 3500 cost?
Ram's site lists the 2026 Ram 3500 from $48,155 before destination. Stellantis quoted $48,565 including destination at the 2025 refresh launch.
