Frequently asked questions
What are the latest Buick recalls?
The most recent Buick campaign on NHTSA record is 26V539000 (reported Aug 20, 2026), affecting 2025 ENCORE GX, 2024 ENCORE GX — back over prevention: sensing system: camera. The list above shows every current campaign for recent Buick model years, newest first, straight from federal records and refreshed daily.
How do I check if MY Buick has an open recall?
By VIN — model-level lists can't tell you whether your specific vehicle was already repaired or built in the affected range. Run the 17-character VIN through CarWhere's free recall check (carwhere.com/tools/recall-check); it queries the same federal database for your exact vehicle.
Are recall repairs free?
Yes — safety-recall remedies are performed free of charge at franchised dealers of the brand, regardless of where you bought the vehicle or whether the warranty expired. For vehicles over 15 years old the manufacturer obligation can lapse, but most brands still honor the fix.
Should an open recall stop me from buying a used Buick?
Rarely by itself — the fix is free. What matters is (1) whether the specific car's recall work was completed (any Buick dealer can run the VIN), and (2) "do not drive"/"park outside" campaigns, flagged above, which mean don't drive or garage the vehicle until repaired. A full history check before purchase covers recalls alongside title and accident records.
Where does this data come from?
NHTSA's public recall-campaign database (the federal record every manufacturer must file into), queried live for recent Buick model years and refreshed daily. Campaign listings here are model-level; per-VIN completion status lives with the manufacturer.
