Component: Electrical system (wiring, front underhood)

Passport model years: 1998 · about 55,475 vehicles in the whole campaign

The problem: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. A GROUND CONNECTION TERMINAL WAS NOT PROPERLY CRIMPED IN THE SUPPLIER'S ENGINE WIRING HARNESS MANUFACTURING LINE. THIS IMPROPER CRIMPING PROCESS CAN LEAVE AN IMPRESSION ON THE TERMINAL THAT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE A STRESS FRACTURE. S

The risk: IF A TERMINAL IS FRACTURED, THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) CAN RECEIVE AN ERRONEOUS SIGNAL INDICATING A HIGH VEHICLE SPEED, THEREBY CAUSING THE PCM TO CUT THE FUEL, CAUSING A 'NO-START' CONDITION, OR A POSSIBLE ENGINE STALL.

The fix: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS ON THESE VEHICLES.

Component: Unknown or other

Passport model years: 1998 · about 30 vehicles in the whole campaign

The problem: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MULTI-PURPOSE PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A DRIVER'S SIDE OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT RUBBER FLOOR MAT. REPEATED MOVEMENT OF THE DRIVER'S FEET AND ACTUATION OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAN RESULT IN A SHIFTING OF THE MAT'S POSITION. THIS SHIFTING CAN CAUSE AN INTERFERENCE WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.

The risk: THIS COULD CAUSE A RESTRICTION OF THE PEDAL'S RETURN TO THE IDLE POSITION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.

The fix: HONDA IS ASKING FOR THE RETURN OF THE FLOOR MAT SET AND WILL REIMBURSE OWNERS FOR THE COST OF THE RUBBER FLOOR MAT SET ALONG WITH ANY RETURN SHIPPING COSTS.

Jan 1, 199797V034002Electrical system1995

Component: Electrical system (alternator/generator/regulator)

Passport model years: 1995 · about 42,092 vehicles in the whole campaign

The problem: AN INTEGRATED CIRCUIT WITHIN THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR CAN CONTAIN MANUFACTURING ERRORS.

The risk: THIS CAN CAUSE EXCESSIVE ELECTRICAL CHARGING OF THE VEHICLE'S ALTERNATOR, RESULTING IN ENGINE CONTROL MALFUNCTION, AND/OR EVENTUAL ENGINE STALL.

The fix: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR WITH A NEW REGULATOR.

How to check if your Passport has an open recall

  1. Find the 17-character VIN on the driver-side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the door-jamb sticker, or your registration.
  2. Enter it in the free VIN recall check. It queries NHTSA for your exact vehicle, not just the model.
  3. If a recall is open, call any Honda dealer's service department to book the free repair. Bring the recall number from the list above.
  4. Buying used? Ask the seller for the dealer's recall-completion printout before you pay.

Or browse by year, for example the 2026 Honda Passport recall check.

Frequently asked questions

How many recalls does the Honda Passport have?

27 NHTSA safety recall campaigns cover the Honda Passport across model years 1995–2026. A single campaign often spans several model years, so the per-year counts in the table add up to more than 27. The 2020 model year has the most, with 10.

What is the latest Honda Passport recall?

26V424000, filed with NHTSA on Jul 1, 2026: structure (frame and members), covering 2026 Passport models. The fix is free at Honda dealers.

What is the biggest Honda Passport recall?

By vehicles covered, 23V858000 (Dec 18, 2023), a fuel system campaign covering about 2,490,460 vehicles in total. That count is for the whole campaign, which can include other models besides the Passport.

How do I check if my Honda Passport has an open recall?

Run your 17-character VIN through a VIN recall check. A model-level list can't tell you whether your car was built in the affected range or has already been repaired. Any Honda dealer can also look up the VIN and do the repair.

Are Honda recall repairs free?

Yes. Safety-recall repairs are done free at franchised Honda dealers, whether or not the warranty has expired and wherever you bought the car. Manufacturers must offer a free remedy for vehicles up to 15 years old at the time the recall is filed, and many still repair older ones.
