The problem: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 114, "THEFT PROTECTION." WATER CONTAMINATION OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL CAN LEAD TO VARIOUS FAILURE MODES OF THE TRANSMISSION. ONE OF THESE FAILURE MODELS RESULTS IN INCORRECT OPERATION OF THE PARK LOCK FUNCTION THAT COULD ALLOW A VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY IF PARKED WITHOUT THE HANDBRAKE PROPERLY SET.

The risk: UNINTENTIONAL VEHICLE MOVEMENT COULD RESULT IN A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY.

The fix: DEALERS WILL CHECK THE PARK LOCK FUNCTION; REPOSITION THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BREATHER TUBE; AND TEST THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FLUSH IF NECESSARY.

The problem: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. THE CAST ALLOY THROTTLE BODY IS HEATED BY FLUID BLED FROM THE COOLING SYSTEM, TO PREVENT ICING IN EXTREMELY COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS. THIS FLUID PASSES THROUGH A SMALL ATTACHMENT (PLATE) TO THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH UTILIZES A CORK GASKET. THE CORK GASKET HAS PROVEN TO BE UNRELIABLE IN THIS APPLICATION. CONSEQUENTLY, COOLANT FLUID CAN LEAK FROM THE INTERFACE BETWEEN THE DE-ICER PLATE AND THE THROTTLE BODY.

The risk: SHOULD THIS COOLANT COLLECT ON HIGH TEMPERATURE REGIONS OF THE ENGINE, THE COOLANT FLUID COULD IGNITE.

The fix: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY GASKET, DE-ICER ATTACHMENT, AND SECURING HARDWARE.

The risk: THIS COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF ENGINE AUXILIARY FUNCTIONS (POWER STEERING, WATER PUMP, ALTERNATOR, AIR CONDITIONING AND ACE).

The fix: DEALERS WILL INSTALL AN IMPROVED IDLER PULLEY.

The risk: LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID CAN RESULT IN THE INOPERATION OF PRIMARY BRAKE CIRCUIT, INCLUDING THE REAR BRAKES, AND LOSS OF ABS OPERATION WITH A CONSEQUENT REDUCTION IN BRAKING PERFORMANCE AND POSSIBLE INCREASED BRAKING DISTANCES. ALSO, BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT COULD CAUSE A FIRE IF THERE IS A SOURCE OF IGNITION.

The fix: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLES TO DETERMINE IF IT IS FITTED WITH THE SUSPECT HOSE AND THEN REPLACE THE SUSPECT HOSE WITH THE LATEST DESIGN.

How to check if your Range Rover has an open recall

  1. Find the 17-character VIN on the driver-side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the door-jamb sticker, or your registration.
  2. Enter it in the free VIN recall check. It queries NHTSA for your exact vehicle, not just the model.
  3. If a recall is open, call any Land Rover dealer's service department to book the free repair. Bring the recall number from the list above.

Frequently asked questions

How many recalls does the Land Rover Range Rover have?

67 NHTSA safety recall campaigns cover the Land Rover Range Rover across model years 1995–2026. A single campaign often spans several model years, so the per-year counts in the table add up to more than 67. The 2016 model year has the most, with 13.

What is the latest Land Rover Range Rover recall?

26V678000, filed with NHTSA on Oct 15, 2026: backup camera / back-over prevention (sensing system, camera), covering 2022–2026 Range Rover models. The fix is free at Land Rover dealers.

How do I check if my Land Rover Range Rover has an open recall?

Run your 17-character VIN through a VIN recall check. A model-level list can't tell you whether your car was built in the affected range or has already been repaired. Any Land Rover dealer can also look up the VIN and do the repair.

Are Land Rover recall repairs free?

Yes. Safety-recall repairs are done free at franchised Land Rover dealers, whether or not the warranty has expired and wherever you bought the car. Manufacturers must offer a free remedy for vehicles up to 15 years old at the time the recall is filed, and many still repair older ones.
