Ram 1500 Build Sheet by VIN

Same lookup as the Ram build sheet by VIN — same free availability check, same $9.99 report, for every Ram model. Also: Ram 2500 build sheet · Ram 3500 build sheet · Ram window sticker by VIN · Ram VIN decoder · Ram specs by model and year · Ram research hub · Ram 1500 trim levels · Ram 1500 known issues.

A Ram 1500 build sheet shows how one VIN left the factory: trim, colors, engine, and the installed packages and options — Level 1 or Level 2 equipment groups, 4x4 Off-Road, eTorque, air suspension, RamBox — when the build data includes them. CarWhere checks the VIN free and charges $9.99 only when build data exists.

What a Ram 1500 build sheet shows

For a Ram 1500 the build sheet is where the expensive differences show up: which engine it has (3.6L or 5.7L with eTorque, 3.0L EcoDiesel, Hurricane inline-six), whether a Laramie or Limited was ordered with its Level 1 or Level 2 Equipment Group, whether it has the four-corner air suspension, RamBox cargo management or the multifunction tailgate, and the axle and towing equipment. Packages and options are listed by name, with original MSRP figures when the build data includes them.

  • • The factory trim, exterior color, and interior trim recorded for that VIN.
  • • Installed factory options and packages, when the underlying build data includes them — listed by name, with the option code when the build data carries one.
  • • Original MSRP figures, when the underlying build data includes them — not every VIN or model year has this available.
  • • A downloadable, printable PDF you can keep with the vehicle’s records or share with a seller or lender.

Data density varies by model year and specific VIN — some vehicles return a full option and MSRP breakdown, others return trim and color only. We tell you which one applies before you pay. Not included: accident history, title brands (salvage, flood, lemon), odometer history, prior-owner count, service records.

Ram 1500 options that matter most

Options are listed by name. Stellantis identifies factory options and packages internally with three-character sales codes, which vary by model and year — the build sheet shows the code for this VIN when the build data includes it. How those codes work: Mopar sales codes explained.

Ram 1500 factory options and packages that matter most, where each applies and why it matters
Option or packageApplies toWhy it matters
Level 1 / Level 2 Equipment GroupDT; Big Horn, Laramie, Limited and other trimsThe single biggest content swing inside one trim — two Laramies can differ by a screen size, seats and driver-assistance features depending on which group was ordered.
4x4 Off-Road GroupDS and DT 4x4 trimsOff-road shocks, skid plates and a limited-slip or locking rear — and a decal that can be added later. The build record confirms the hardware came from the factory.
RebelDS and DTAn off-road trim, not a package — but Rebels themselves vary by group and engine, which the build sheet shows.
TRXDT, 2021–2024The supercharged 6.2L high-performance truck. Confirming a TRX by VIN, plus its launch and appearance packages, matters at its price point.
eTorque mild-hybridDT; 3.6L V6 and 5.7L V8Shown by engine name. Whether a 5.7L truck has eTorque changes the battery and belt-starter hardware a buyer is taking on.
Four-corner air suspensionDT (also offered on DS)Adjustable ride height and load leveling. Air suspension is a factory option that is costly to retrofit — verify it on the record, not the listing.
RamBox Cargo Management SystemDS and DT; specific bed lengthsLockable bed-side storage that is built into the bed. It cannot be added later, so it is a reliable build-record check.
Multifunction tailgateDTThe split, swing-out tailgate is a factory option on DT trucks and one of the most-asked-about features on used ones.
Axle ratio and trailer-tow groupDS and DTTwo trucks with the same engine can tow very differently on different gears. The record settles the ratio and the towing equipment.

Badges, wheels, flares and hitches can all be added after the fact. The build record tells you what the factory fitted; an inspection tells you it is still there.

Ram 1500 generations at a glance

Ram 1500 generations, US model years and build-sheet notes
GenerationUS model yearsBuild-sheet notes
Fourth generation (DS)2009–2018 (sold alongside the new truck as the 1500 Classic afterward)Older trucks: build data is thinner on earlier model years, so some VINs return trim and color only. The 1500 Classic is a DS-platform truck even when it is a recent model year.
Fifth generation (DT)2019–presentThe most option-sensitive Ram. Equipment groups, eTorque, the air suspension and the RamBox/multifunction tailgate choices separate trucks that wear the same badge. The 2025 update brought the Hurricane inline-six.

Where to find the VIN on a Ram 1500

  • • Through the lower driver-side corner of the windshield (dashboard VIN plate).
  • • On the driver-side door-jamb certification label, alongside the tire and loading information.
  • • On the title, registration and insurance card — and on the original window sticker if the seller kept it.

Nothing in the 17 characters lists packages or options — those live in the production record for the VIN. Decode any Ram VIN free with the Ram VIN decoder.

Ram window sticker vs build sheet

Start with the free Ram window sticker by VIN lookup: when Stellantis's window-sticker system has the original Monroney label for that VIN, it lists the factory options and packages with their prices. When no sticker comes back, the build sheet is the replacement — This CarWhere build sheet is reconstructed from available VIN-level build data. It is not an official Ram Monroney label or factory certificate. The other routes (dealer printout, owner app, the classic broadcast sheet) are compared in how to find Ram, Jeep and Dodge options by VIN.

FAQ

How do I know which equipment group my Ram 1500 has?

The original window sticker lists equipment groups by name; when it is not available, a build sheet for the VIN shows the installed packages when the build data includes them. The VIN characters themselves do not encode packages.

Is a Ram 1500 Classic the same truck as the new 1500?

No. The 1500 Classic is the previous-generation (DS) truck that Ram kept building after the fifth-generation (DT) 1500 arrived for 2019. A build sheet and a VIN decode both identify which one a VIN is.

Does the Ram build sheet show sales codes?

It lists the installed options and packages by name, and the option code next to them when the underlying build data includes it. Ram uses three-character Stellantis sales codes internally; not every VIN's build data carries them, so we never promise a complete code list.

Is the CarWhere Ram 1500 build sheet an official Ram document?

No. This CarWhere build sheet is reconstructed from available VIN-level build data. It is not an official Ram Monroney label or factory certificate. When Stellantis's window-sticker system has the original sticker for a VIN, the free Ram window sticker lookup returns that document instead.

How much is a Ram 1500 build sheet by VIN?

Checking whether detailed build data exists for the VIN is free and happens before you pay. If it does, the report — including the build sheet — is $9.99 one-time, no subscription. If it doesn’t, you are not charged.
