Engines, equipment and previous-generation trims: Wagoneer trim levels explained

Used Wagoneer: generations and model years

Used Wagoneers for sale span 3 generations in CarWhere's data, with the Grand Wagoneer refresh (2026–present) on sale new. Knowing which generation a listing belongs to tells you which engines, recalls and known issues apply.

Grand Wagoneer refresh (2026–present) · 2026–presentCurrent

For 2026 every model is badged Jeep Grand Wagoneer, absorbing the old Wagoneer. It gets a new face, chrome-free exterior and new trim names. The 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo I6 (420 hp, 468 lb-ft, up to 10,000-lb towing) is the launch engine. A range-extended EV with an estimated 647 hp is listed as late availability. Long-wheelbase L models cost $3,000 more.

Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer (2022–2025) · 2022–2025

The revived Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer launched for 2022 as a premium Jeep line. The Wagoneer used the 5.7L HEMI with eTorque and the Grand Wagoneer the 6.4L HEMI; the 3.0L Hurricane I6 (Standard and High Output) later replaced both V8s. Long-wheelbase L versions and a Carbide trim were added. Prices below are 2022 launch MSRPs, excluding $2,000 destination.

Wagoneer S EV (2024–present) · 2024–presentCurrent

The Wagoneer S is a separate, smaller all-electric SUV. The 2024 Launch Edition made up to 600 hp. For 2025 Jeep added a Limited that makes 500 hp unless you buy the power-boost package.

What to check before buying a used Wagoneer

  1. Run the VIN for title brands (salvage, rebuilt, flood, lemon buyback), odometer history and reported accidents before you go see it.
  2. Check the VIN for open safety recalls and confirm the dealer will complete any open campaign before delivery.
  3. Decode the VIN or pull the build sheet to confirm the engine, drivetrain, trim and options match the listing.
  4. Test four-wheel or all-wheel drive, and on off-road trims look under the vehicle for skid-plate damage and bent suspension parts.
  5. Check every row: folding seats, rear climate, power liftgate and all door seals for water leaks.
  6. Get an independent pre-purchase inspection — especially for suspension, brakes, tires and any fluid leaks.
  7. Ask for service records, and confirm how much factory warranty is left from the original in-service date.
  8. Negotiate the vehicle price first, then fees; refuse dealer add-ons you did not ask for.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I pay for a Wagoneer?

Start from the starting MSRP of the trim you want — 2026 Wagoneer pricing begins at $62,145 — and negotiate the selling price as a discount off MSRP, before rebates and with no dealer add-ons. CarWhere doesn't have enough verified Wagoneer deals yet to publish a median discount. A used Wagoneer's price depends on year, mileage and condition, so compare several listings near you before you make an offer.

When is the best time to buy a Wagoneer?

CarWhere's best-time research finds that new-car discounts have historically been largest from October through December, and January is strongest for used cars. But the seasonal edge is small: average discounts in CarWhere's verified deals move by only a point or two between periods. Negotiating the price matters more than the calendar.

Should I buy a new or used Wagoneer?

New gets you the current Grand Wagoneer refresh Wagoneer (2026–present) with a full factory warranty, from $62,145 MSRP. Used, the main alternative is the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer (2022–2025). Before you buy a used one, check its recall history, and run the VIN for title and accident history.
