By CarWhere Research · Updated

The Hyundai Veloster N is a front-wheel-drive, 2.0L turbocharged hot hatch sold in the US for the 2019–2022 model years. 2019–2020 cars are manual only; 2021–2022 added an 8-speed dual-clutch. EPA rates the manual at 25 mpg combined and the DCT at 22. Key recalls cover the fuel pump (24V528) and air bag software (26V728).

Hyundai Veloster N engines, horsepower and mpg

EPA rated the 2020 manual at 22/29/25 mpg. Hyundai's own Veloster N output and price documents could not be retrieved, so horsepower, torque and MSRP are left blank rather than estimated.

Veloster N vs Elantra N

Both use a 2.0L turbo four with front-wheel drive; the Elantra N is the sedan that remains on sale.[1][3][10][11]

Veloster N manual vs DCT

If you want a 2019 or 2020 Veloster N, it will be a manual. The dual-clutch option is available only on 2021–2022 cars. EPA rates the DCT lower, at 20/27/22 mpg versus 22/28/25 mpg for the 2022 manual.[2][4][1][3]

Veloster N recalls

NHTSA lists three Hyundai campaigns that name the Veloster N. Confirm each one by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

  • 24V528 (2019–2022): the fuel pump may fail, causing a loss of drive power. Dealers update engine software and replace the pump as needed.
  • 22V746 (2021–2022): the transmission fail-safe mode may not work after an oil pump malfunction, causing a loss of drive power.
  • 26V728 (2019–2022): air bag control unit software may deactivate the air bags and seat belt pretensioners.
  • [6][7][8][9]

What to check when buying a used Veloster N

Check recall completion first, especially the fuel pump (24V528) and the newer air bag software campaign (26V728), which NHTSA received in November 2026, so check whether the remedy has been done. On a 2021–2022 DCT car, also confirm 22V746. Ask for maintenance records, since many of these cars are driven hard.[6][8][7]
