By CarWhere Research · Updated

CarWhere’s Genesis hub collects free research for Genesis shoppers and owners: 8 model guides (GV80, G70, GV70, G80, G90), 126 trim levels with dated Genesis MSRPs, 62 known issues and NHTSA recalls, Genesis history and VIN tools. Every page lists its sources.

Genesis sells sedans and SUVs with turbocharged gas engines and battery-electric versions, and the same nameplate can differ a lot by engine and trim. These pages explain what each model, trim and generation offers, what has been recalled, what buyers actually paid, and what to check on a specific vehicle before you buy it.

Frequently asked questions

What SUV models does Genesis sell?

CarWhere covers 5 current Genesis SUVs: GV80, GV70, GV60, GV80 Coupe, GV90. Each model guide lists the current price range, powertrains and generations with Genesis and EPA sources.

How much is the Genesis GV80?

For the 2027 model year the GV80 is priced from $58,850 to $84,100 MSRP (MSRP excl. $1,595 destination. Lowest = 2.5T RWD, highest = 3.5T Prestige Black AWD.). The GV80 guide lists every trim with its dated Genesis MSRP.

Who makes Genesis cars?

Genesis cars are made by Hyundai Motor Company, which announced Genesis as a stand-alone global luxury brand on November 4, 2015. The name came from the Hyundai Genesis sedan, sold in the US from the 2009 model year. Genesis-branded cars arrived in the US for 2017 with the G80 and G90; the GV80 (2021) was the first Genesis SUV, and the GV60 (2023) the first built on a dedicated EV platform.

What do Genesis model names mean?

Genesis sedans start with G (G70, G80, G90) and SUVs with GV (GV60, GV70, GV80); a bigger number means a bigger, pricier model. “Electrified” marks the battery-electric versions of the GV70 and G80. Trims are named by engine (2.5T, 3.5T) and then by equipment level.

How do I check a Genesis for recalls?

Enter the 17-character VIN on NHTSA’s recall lookup or ask a Genesis dealer to run it. Recall repairs are free. CarWhere’s known-issues pages list recall campaign numbers by model and generation.

How do I find out what options my Genesis has?

Start with the paperwork that came with the car. If it is lost, a build sheet reconstructed from the VIN shows factory colors, options and packages where detailed build data exists, and the free VIN decoder shows basics such as engine, body and plant.
