What the CPO premium actually buys
Certified pre-owned isn't just a badge: it typically adds a manufacturer-backed limited warranty, a documented multi-point inspection, reconditioning to factory standards, and extras like roadside assistance — which is why dealers price CPO cars above comparable used stock. The premium is worth paying when the warranty coverage outlasts your ownership risk window and the car's history is clean; it is not worth paying to skip your own pre-purchase inspection or a VIN history check.

Each model's certified and used figures are aggregate statistics distilled from live inventory searches run on CarWhere, refreshed continuously; the freshest snapshot per side wins and both capture dates are shown. The premium is (CPO mean − used mean) ÷ used mean; pairs with a premium beyond ±40% are excluded as likely trim or sample mismatches. CarWhere stores only aggregates — never individual listings.
