2027 Subaru Crosstrek price and trims

The third-generation Crosstrek launched for 2024. For 2026 the base trim got the 2.5L engine and Subaru added the Crosstrek Hybrid. For 2027 prices held steady, the gas-only Sport was dropped, and Sport became a hybrid-only trim. Hybrids are built in Japan; gas models in Indiana.[16][17]

Three different Crosstrek hybrids

Subaru has sold three hybrid Crosstreks. The 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid added a 13.4-hp electric motor to the 2.0L for 160 hp combined. The 2019 Crosstrek Hybrid was a plug-in hybrid that could run on electric power alone for local driving.

The 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid uses Subaru's next-generation series-parallel system with a 2.5L engine for 194 combined horsepower. EPA rates it at 36 mpg city, highway and combined, against 29 combined for the 2027 gas Crosstrek.[8][10][5][6][3]

Crosstrek Wilderness

The Crosstrek Wilderness debuted for 2024 with longer springs and shocks for 9.3 inches of ground clearance, more than half an inch above other Crosstreks, plus a better approach angle (20 vs 18 degrees). Its towing rating more than doubles to 3,500 pounds versus 1,500 on other trims.

For 2027 the Wilderness starts at $33,795. EPA rates it at 26 mpg combined versus 29 for the standard 2.5L Crosstrek.

  • 9.3 in ground clearance vs 8.7 in
  • 3,500-lb towing vs 1,500 lb
  • All-terrain tires, matte-black 17-inch wheels
  • Underbody protection
  • [15][2][1][4][3]

X-MODE and ground clearance

Every 2026–2027 Crosstrek, including the hybrid, has Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, X-MODE with Hill Descent Control and at least 8.7 inches of ground clearance. The 2.5L became standard on the base trim for 2026, replacing the 152-hp 2.0L.[2][5][1]

Subaru Crosstrek problems and recalls

The most significant documented Crosstrek problems are engine-related recalls: valve springs that can fracture on the 2013 XV Crosstrek, and an engine computer fault that can damage ignition coils plus a PCV valve that can break apart on 2018–2019 models. The 2013 XV Crosstrek was also in a court-approved oil-consumption settlement.
