1. Vehicle
2. Sale
3. Odometer disclosure
Federal law (49 U.S.C. 32705) requires mileage disclosure at transfer for vehicles fewer than 20 model years old. I, the Seller, certify the odometer readsmiles (no tenths), and that to the best of my knowledge this reading is (check one):
The seller must provide an accurate odometer reading at the time of sale (with an estimate if the reading is inaccurate), recorded on the bill of sale and title assignment; the federal under-20-model-years rule applies.
4. Seller
5. Buyer
6. Certification
Seller certifies that Seller is the lawful owner of the vehicle, that it is sold free of all liens and encumbrances except as noted here:, and that the vehicle is sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS, with no warranties expressed or implied, except as required by law. Both parties certify the information above is true and correct.
7. Notary acknowledgment
State of New Jersey, County of. Subscribed and sworn before me on thisday of, 20.
Before anyone signs: run the VIN
The $9.99 Full VIN Report shows open recalls for that VIN, plus complaints and service bulletins for the model, and the original window sticker where available, in about a minute. One-time, no subscription. Run the report →
How to use it: fill out two copies in ink, both parties sign each (in front of the notary where required), and each party keeps one. Buyer brings theirs when titling; seller keeps theirs as proof the vehicle changed hands. Requirements verified 2026-07-07 — see the New Jersey guide for the current rules and official sources.
