Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Build Sheet by VIN

Same lookup as the Chevrolet build sheet by VIN — same free availability check, same $9.99 report, for every Chevrolet model. Also: Chevrolet window sticker by VIN · Chevrolet VIN decoder · GM RPO codes by VIN · Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim levels · Chevrolet Silverado 1500 known issues.

A Silverado 1500 build sheet shows how one VIN left the factory: trim, colors, engine and the RPO codes for the options and packages it was ordered with — Z71, NHT Max Trailering, the G80 locker, axle ratio. The tailgate badge does not tell you that. CarWhere checks the VIN free and charges $9.99 only when build data exists.

What a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 build sheet shows

For a Silverado 1500 the build sheet is where the expensive differences show up: which engine it has (2.7L turbo, 5.3L or 6.2L V8, 3.0L Duramax), whether it was ordered with the Z71 Off-Road Package or a trailering package, the rear-axle ratio and locker, and tech such as Super Cruise. You get the RPO codes for those ordered options — not the full glovebox SPID list, which also carries standard-equipment codes.

  • • The factory trim, exterior color, and interior trim recorded for that VIN.
  • • Installed factory options and packages, when the underlying build data includes them — for GM vehicles, the RPO codes for the options and packages the vehicle was ordered with.
  • • Original MSRP figures, when the underlying build data includes them — not every VIN or model year has this available.
  • • A downloadable, printable PDF you can keep with the vehicle’s records or share with a seller or lender.

Data density varies by model year and specific VIN — some vehicles return a full option and MSRP breakdown, others return trim and color only. We tell you which one applies before you pay. Not included: accident history, title brands (salvage, flood, lemon), odometer history, prior-owner count, service records.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 options that matter most

RPO codes shown are from the GM RPO code reference, with where they apply in brackets. Options marked “by name” appear on the build record under their option name — the RPO code varies by model year and is shown on the build sheet for that VIN when the build data includes it.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 factory options that matter most, with GM RPO codes where the CarWhere reference documents them and why each matters
OptionRPO code (applies to)Why it matters
Z71 Off-Road Package
  • Z71 (4x4 trims)
Off-road suspension, skid plates and hill-descent — and a badge that can be added after the fact. The ordered RPO confirms the hardware came from the factory.
Max Trailering Package
  • NHT (Max Trailering)
  • Z82 (Trailering Hitch Package)
NHT is the package that changes the tow rating (axle, springs, cooling); Z82 is the basic hitch-and-wiring package it is often confused with.
Engine
  • L3B (2.7L turbo I4, 2019+)
  • L84 (5.3L V8, 2019+)
  • L87 (6.2L V8, 2019+)
  • LM2 (3.0L Duramax, 2020–2022)
  • LZ0 (3.0L Duramax, 2023+)
Engine choice sets towing, fuel economy and value. The 8th VIN character also encodes the engine; the build sheet adds the RPO.
Rear axle ratio and locker
  • G80 (automatic locking rear differential)
  • GU6 (3.42 ratio)
  • GT4 (3.73 ratio)
Two trucks with the same engine can tow very differently on 3.42 vs 3.73 gears. G80 is the most looked-up driveline RPO on used GM trucks.
ZR2 (extreme off-road)
  • ZR2 (Silverado ZR2)
The top off-road tier with spool-valve dampers and front/rear lockers — a value line well above a Z71.
Multi-Flex / Multi-Pro tailgateBy nameShown by name. The multi-function tailgate is fitted at the factory on specific trims and is one of the most-asked-about options on used trucks.
Super CruiseBy nameShown by name. GM’s hands-free driver-assistance hardware is installed at build on equipped trucks; confirm it on the record rather than the listing.

Exterior color is a separate paint code — see the Chevrolet paint code reference. Looking for a Corvette? It has its own Corvette build sheet by VIN page.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 generations at a glance

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 generations, US model years and build-sheet notes
GenerationUS model yearsBuild-sheet notes
GMT9002007–2013Older trucks: build data is thinner on these model years, so some VINs return trim and color only. The SPID label in the glovebox is often the best record.
K2XX2014–2018Introduced the EcoTec3 V8s. Ordered packages (Z71, trailering, axle and locker choices) are the main differences between trucks with the same badge.
T1XX2019–presentCurrent truck (refreshed for 2022). Adds the 2.7L turbo four (L3B), 3.0L Duramax diesel (LM2, then LZ0) and Super Cruise availability — the most option-sensitive generation.

Where to find the VIN and the SPID label on a Chevrolet Silverado 1500

  • • The VIN is visible through the lower driver-side corner of the windshield.
  • • It is also on the driver-side door-jamb certification label, and on the title, registration and insurance card.
  • • GM's Service Parts Identification (SPID) label is usually inside the glovebox (sometimes in the center console, trunk or spare-tire area). It repeats the VIN, shows the paint code and lists every RPO the vehicle was built with — standard equipment included, often 50 or more codes.

The CarWhere build sheet is not a copy of that label. It returns the RPO codes for the options and packages the vehicle was ordered with — the codes that set one Silverado 1500 apart from another — when the build data includes them. If the label is missing, faded or you can't see the vehicle, that is usually what you need. How to read the label itself: GM SPID label explained.

Chevrolet window sticker vs build sheet

Start with the free Chevrolet window sticker by VIN lookup: when GM's window-sticker system has the original Monroney label for that VIN, it lists the factory options and packages with their prices. When no sticker comes back, the build sheet is the replacement — This CarWhere build sheet is reconstructed from available VIN-level build data. It is not an official Chevrolet Monroney label or factory certificate. The other routes (SPID label, dealer printout, owner app) are compared in how to find GM options by VIN.

FAQ

How do I know if my Silverado has the Z71 package?

Look for RPO Z71 on the glovebox SPID label or on a build sheet for the VIN. The Z71 badge alone is not proof — it can be added later. The VIN characters themselves do not encode packages.

How can I tell if a Silverado has the Max Trailering Package?

Check for RPO NHT. It is often confused with Z82, the basic trailering hitch package. A build sheet for the VIN lists the ordered packages with their RPO codes when the build data includes them.

Is the build sheet the same as the Silverado glovebox SPID label?

Not exactly. The Service Parts Identification (SPID) label lists every RPO on the vehicle, including standard equipment. The CarWhere build sheet returns the RPO codes for the options and packages the vehicle was ordered with — the codes that set one build apart from another — when the build data includes them.

How much is a Silverado 1500 build sheet by VIN?

Checking whether detailed build data exists for the VIN is free and happens before you pay. If it does, the report — including the build sheet — is $9.99 one-time, no subscription. If it doesn’t, you are not charged.

Is the CarWhere Silverado 1500 build sheet an official Chevrolet document?

No. This CarWhere build sheet is reconstructed from available VIN-level build data. It is not an official Chevrolet Monroney label or factory certificate. When GM’s window-sticker system has the original sticker for a VIN, the free Chevrolet window sticker lookup returns that document instead.
