GMC Sierra 1500 Build Sheet by VIN

Same lookup as the GMC build sheet by VIN — same free availability check, same $9.99 report, for every GMC model. Also: GMC window sticker by VIN · GMC VIN decoder · GM RPO codes by VIN · GMC Sierra 1500 trim levels · GMC Sierra 1500 known issues.

A Sierra 1500 build sheet shows how one VIN left the factory: trim (Pro through Denali Ultimate), colors, engine and the RPO codes for options and packages it was ordered with — X31 off-road, NHT Max Trailering, the G80 locker. Two Sierras with the same badge can differ a lot. CarWhere checks free; $9.99 only when data exists.

What a GMC Sierra 1500 build sheet shows

The Sierra shares its hardware with the Silverado, so the build sheet answers the same questions — engine, off-road and trailering packages, axle and locker — plus GMC trim content such as AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate. You get the RPO codes for the ordered options and packages, not the full SPID list of standard equipment.

  • • The factory trim, exterior color, and interior trim recorded for that VIN.
  • • Installed factory options and packages, when the underlying build data includes them — for GM vehicles, the RPO codes for the options and packages the vehicle was ordered with.
  • • Original MSRP figures, when the underlying build data includes them — not every VIN or model year has this available.
  • • A downloadable, printable PDF you can keep with the vehicle’s records or share with a seller or lender.

Data density varies by model year and specific VIN — some vehicles return a full option and MSRP breakdown, others return trim and color only. We tell you which one applies before you pay. Not included: accident history, title brands (salvage, flood, lemon), odometer history, prior-owner count, service records.

GMC Sierra 1500 options that matter most

RPO codes shown are from the GM RPO code reference, with where they apply in brackets. Options marked “by name” appear on the build record under their option name — the RPO code varies by model year and is shown on the build sheet for that VIN when the build data includes it.

GMC Sierra 1500 factory options that matter most, with GM RPO codes where the CarWhere reference documents them and why each matters
OptionRPO code (applies to)Why it matters
X31 Off-Road Package
  • X31 (Sierra 4x4)
GMC’s off-road suspension bundle on non-AT4 trucks; verify the RPO rather than the decal.
Max Trailering Package
  • NHT (Max Trailering)
  • Z82 (Trailering Hitch Package)
NHT changes the tow rating; Z82 is the basic hitch package. They are easy to confuse on a listing.
Engine
  • L3B (2.7L turbo I4, 2019+)
  • L84 (5.3L V8, 2019+)
  • L87 (6.2L V8, 2019+)
  • LM2 (3.0L Duramax, 2020–2022)
  • LZ0 (3.0L Duramax, 2023+)
Engine sets towing and value; the 6.2L and Duramax are the premium choices.
Locker and axle ratio
  • G80 (automatic locking rear differential)
  • GU6 (3.42 ratio)
  • GT4 (3.73 ratio)
Gear ratio and locker change towing and off-road capability between otherwise identical trucks.
AT4 / AT4X trimsBy nameShown by name. GMC’s off-road trims; AT4X adds the most off-road hardware.
Denali / Denali UltimateBy nameShown by name. Top luxury trims; Super Cruise availability varies by year and trim.
MultiPro tailgateBy nameShown by name. The GMC multi-function tailgate is factory-fitted on specific trims.

Exterior color is a separate paint code, printed on the SPID label. Looking for a Corvette? It has its own Corvette build sheet by VIN page.

GMC Sierra 1500 generations at a glance

GMC Sierra 1500 generations, US model years and build-sheet notes
GenerationUS model yearsBuild-sheet notes
GMT9002007–2013Older trucks: build data is thinner on these model years, so some VINs return trim and color only. The SPID label in the glovebox is often the best record.
K2XX2014–2018Introduced the EcoTec3 V8s. Ordered packages (Z71, trailering, axle and locker choices) are the main differences between trucks with the same badge.
T1XX2019–presentCurrent truck (refreshed for 2022). Adds the 2.7L turbo four (L3B), 3.0L Duramax diesel (LM2, then LZ0) and Super Cruise availability — the most option-sensitive generation.

Where to find the VIN and the SPID label on a GMC Sierra 1500

  • • The VIN is visible through the lower driver-side corner of the windshield.
  • • It is also on the driver-side door-jamb certification label, and on the title, registration and insurance card.
  • • GM's Service Parts Identification (SPID) label is usually inside the glovebox (sometimes in the center console, trunk or spare-tire area). It repeats the VIN, shows the paint code and lists every RPO the vehicle was built with — standard equipment included, often 50 or more codes.

The CarWhere build sheet is not a copy of that label. It returns the RPO codes for the options and packages the vehicle was ordered with — the codes that set one Sierra 1500 apart from another — when the build data includes them. If the label is missing, faded or you can't see the vehicle, that is usually what you need. How to read the label itself: GM SPID label explained.

GMC window sticker vs build sheet

Start with the free GMC window sticker by VIN lookup: when GM's window-sticker system has the original Monroney label for that VIN, it lists the factory options and packages with their prices. When no sticker comes back, the build sheet is the replacement — This CarWhere build sheet is reconstructed from available VIN-level build data. It is not an official GMC Monroney label or factory certificate. The other routes (SPID label, dealer printout, owner app) are compared in how to find GM options by VIN.

FAQ

Is a GMC Sierra build sheet the same as a Silverado build sheet?

Same format — trim, colors, engine and ordered RPO codes — because GM uses one RPO system for both. Trim content differs (AT4, Denali on GMC), and each build sheet is matched to the exact VIN entered.

How do I find out if my Sierra has the Max Trailering Package?

Look for RPO NHT on the glovebox SPID label or on a build sheet for the VIN. Z82 alone is the basic trailering hitch package.

Is the build sheet the same as the Sierra glovebox SPID label?

Not exactly. The Service Parts Identification (SPID) label lists every RPO on the vehicle, including standard equipment. The CarWhere build sheet returns the RPO codes for the options and packages the vehicle was ordered with — the codes that set one build apart from another — when the build data includes them.

How much is a Sierra 1500 build sheet by VIN?

Checking whether detailed build data exists for the VIN is free and happens before you pay. If it does, the report — including the build sheet — is $9.99 one-time, no subscription. If it doesn’t, you are not charged.

Is the CarWhere Sierra 1500 build sheet an official GMC document?

No. This CarWhere build sheet is reconstructed from available VIN-level build data. It is not an official GMC Monroney label or factory certificate. When GM’s window-sticker system has the original sticker for a VIN, the free GMC window sticker lookup returns that document instead.
