Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat history: 2021 to today

By CarWhere Research · Updated

The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is a three-row SUV with a 710 hp, 645 lb-ft supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi. It launched for 2021, skipped the 2022 model year over emissions rules and returned for 2023. After 2025 "Last Call" special editions, Dodge confirmed it would continue for 2026.

Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat history

The third-generation Durango (2011 on) already offered the 475 hp SRT 392. For 2021 Dodge installed the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat Hemi, rated at 710 hp at 6,000 rpm and 645 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm.

The SRT Hellcat was dropped for 2022 because that engine could not be modified further to meet emissions requirements; emissions changes for 2023 allowed it to return.

Dodge marked 2025 with special editions such as the Silver Bullet, Hammerhead and Brass Monkey, billed as the last Hellcat, then announced that the 710 hp Durango SRT Hellcat would remain in production for the 2026 model year.[1],[2],[3]

What to check before you buy one

  • Confirm the vehicle is a factory SRT Hellcat from the VIN — SRT 392 and R/T Durangos share much of the look.
  • Check tire and brake wear and ask about towing and track use; this is a heavy, very powerful SUV.
  • Look for complete service records on the supercharged engine, transfer case and 8-speed automatic, and check for open recalls with a dealer.
  • The factory build sheet confirms seating, tow, appearance and special-edition equipment.
