By CarWhere Research · Updated

Genesis SUVs: GV80, GV70, GV60, GV80 Coupe and GV90 history
When Genesis shared the first images of the GV80 on December 31, 2019, it called it the brand's first SUV and its fourth model after the G70, G80 and G90 sedans. It rode on a rear-wheel-drive platform unique to Genesis, with optional all-wheel drive and an available third row; the 'V' stands for versatility.
The 2021 GV80 went on sale in summer 2020 from $48,900 with a 2.5T four-cylinder or a 3.5T twin-turbo V6. The smaller 2022 GV70 started at $41,000 with all-wheel drive standard. The GV70 later became the first Genesis built in the US, with the Electrified GV70 assembled in Montgomery, Alabama from 2023 and gas GV70s from the 2024 model year.
The GV80 got its first major change for 2025, alongside the new GV80 Coupe. The GV60, an electric crossover on the E-GMP platform, arrived in 2022 as a 2023 model, and the GV90 flagship electric SUV was unveiled in San Francisco in August 2026.[1],[2],[3],[4],[5],[7],[8],[10]
