Land Rover trim levels explained

By CarWhere Research · Updated

Land Rover sells three families of SUVs: Range Rover (Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar and Evoque), Defender (90, 110 and 130 body lengths) and Discovery (Discovery and Discovery Sport). Within each model the trim ladder climbs from a base trim through Dynamic or SE-style trims to Autobiography or SV, and an engine code such as P300 or P400 identifies the powertrain. CarWhere lays out 67 trims across 7 Land Rover models — Range Rover, Defender, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Evoque, Discovery and Discovery Sport — with dated base MSRPs, engines and key equipment.

Badges can be swapped or deleted, so the reliable record is the original paperwork or the build record tied to the VIN, which shows the trim, engine and packages the car was built with. On Land Rover models the engine code (such as P300 or P400) is often badged on the body, but trim levels and packages are only confirmed by the build record.
