Aviator V6 vs Aviator Grand Touring plug-in hybrid
On the used market the choice is between the gas-only Aviator and the 2020–2023 Grand Touring plug-in hybrid.[8][6][2]
| Aviator AWD (gas) | Aviator Grand Touring (PHEV) | |
|---|---|---|
| Model years | 2020–present | 2020–2023 |

| Transmission | 10-speed automatic | 10-speed automatic |
- The Grand Touring gains 3 mpg combined on gas and can cover about 21 miles on electricity alone.
- It was dropped after 2023, so newer Aviators are gas-only.
- Both use the same 10-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
2027 Aviator trims: Premiere vs Reserve vs Black Label
Premiere comes with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, adaptive suspension, Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Drive 2.0, second-row captain's chairs, four years of BlueCruise and 14-speaker Revel audio. Reserve adds leather seating surfaces, ambient lighting and the Panoramic Vista Roof, and makes the Illumination Package and a Dynamic Handling Package with Air Glide Suspension available.
Black Label adds 30-way Perfect Position front seats, 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D audio and Black Label ownership benefits, with a choice of the Invitation, Flight or Moonbeam interior themes. All three trims share the 400-hp V6.[12][2][13]
Aviator Grand Touring: the plug-in hybrid years
The Grand Touring paired the twin-turbo 3.0L V6 with a 74 kW electric motor and a plug-in battery. EPA rated it at 21 miles of electric range, 56 MPGe and 23 mpg combined on gas alone, with 460 miles of total range. On 240 V, EPA lists a charge time of about 3.5 hours.
EPA lists the Grand Touring for the 2020 through 2023 model years and none after. Lincoln's 2025 Aviator material describes only the gas V6. A used Grand Touring is now the only way to get a plug-in Aviator.
What the 2025 refresh changed
For 2025 Lincoln raised the grille slightly and fitted new LED headlamps. It also introduced the Lincoln Digital Experience, with Google apps, Alexa or Google Assistant voice control, a 13.2-inch touchscreen and a 12.4-inch digital cluster. BlueCruise became standard, with four years of hands-free highway driving included.
The standard-equipment list grew to include the Panoramic Vista Roof, adaptive suspension, heated and ventilated front seats, Phone as a Key, 20-inch wheels and a Class III Trailer Tow Package. A Jet Package is available on every trim, along with a Black Label Special Edition with a black roof and 22-inch Ebony wheels. EPA rated the 2025–2026 Aviator at 17/25/20 mpg with AWD and 18/25/21 with RWD.[2][14][15]
Buying a used Aviator
Every 2020-on Aviator uses the twin-turbo 3.0L V6. A 2025 or later model has the Lincoln Digital Experience and standard BlueCruise, while 2020–2023 cars may be Grand Touring plug-in hybrids. The 2003–2005 Aviator is a separate, V8-powered Explorer-based SUV.
Check the VIN against NHTSA's recall lookup. Open campaigns include 24V635, for intake valves on 2021–2022 3.0L engines, and 26V451, for a second-row seat switch on 2020–2027 Aviators.[2][6][16][17][18]
