P0352: Ignition Coil "B" Primary/Secondary Circuit

P0352 means there is a primary or secondary circuit fault in ignition coil "B", commonly the coil for cylinder 2, so that cylinder may not be getting spark.

Severity: High — limit driving
Can I drive with P0352? Limited driving is possible if the engine runs acceptably, but a coil fault usually causes a misfire. Stop driving soon if the check engine light flashes.

How P0352 sets

The powertrain control module (PCM) watches how coil "B" responds each time it is triggered. When the circuit shows an open, short to ground, short to voltage, or a feedback signal outside expected limits, P0352 is stored. Coil letter assignments are set by the manufacturer.

Common causes of P0352

Roughly most likely first; the actual cause depends on the vehicle and needs testing to confirm.

  1. Faulty ignition coil "B"
  2. Damaged wiring between the PCM and coil "B"
  3. Corroded or loose connector
  4. Spark plug gap too wide or plug worn out
  5. Missing coil power or ground

P0352 symptoms

  • Check engine light on or flashing
  • Misfire, often in cylinder 2
  • Rough idle
  • Poor acceleration

How P0352 is diagnosed

  1. Read freeze frame data and check for P0302 or other misfire codes.
  2. Identify which cylinder coil "B" serves on this engine.
  3. Inspect the coil and connector for cracks, burns, or corrosion.
  4. Swap coil "B" with another and recheck.
  5. Test power, ground, and control signal at the coil connector.

Typical fixes for P0352

  • Replace ignition coil "B"
  • Repair wiring or connector damage
  • Replace worn spark plugs
  • Restore coil power or ground

Replace parts only after testing confirms the cause — a code names the circuit or condition that failed a check, not necessarily the faulty part. We don’t publish per-repair prices; for what households actually spend on upkeep, see car repair costs.

P0352 FAQ

What does code P0352 mean?

P0352 means there is a primary or secondary circuit fault in ignition coil "B", commonly the coil for cylinder 2, so that cylinder may not be getting spark. The standard definition is "Ignition Coil "B" Primary/Secondary Circuit."

Can I drive with a P0352 code?

Limited driving is possible if the engine runs acceptably, but a coil fault usually causes a misfire. Stop driving soon if the check engine light flashes.

Can a worn spark plug cause P0352?

Yes. A worn or overly gapped plug forces the coil to work harder and can lead to coil failure or a secondary circuit fault.

Why do P0352 and P0302 appear together?

If coil "B" fires cylinder 2, a coil circuit problem directly causes a cylinder 2 misfire, so both codes often appear together.
