Why does my Airstream Interstate decode as a Mercedes?
The Airstream Interstate is built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, so the VIN decodes as the Sprinter — including its engine and transmission. The Airstream conversion is a later stage on the same VIN. (The Atlas and Rangeline use the Ram ProMaster.)
Where is the VIN on an Airstream travel trailer?
On the federal certification label on the front-left (roadside) exterior and stamped on the A-frame near the hitch. The same 17-character VIN appears on the title and registration.
