Subaru Impreza problems and known issues

By CarWhere Research · Updated

The most significant documented Impreza problems are recalls: corroding front control arms on 2002–2007 cars, Takata air bags on 2004–2011 models, valve springs on 2012–2014 models, a brake light switch on 2008–2016 cars, and ignition-coil and PCV valve faults on 2017–2019 models. The 2012–2013 Impreza was also in an oil-consumption settlement.

CarWhere lists 13 documented Impreza issues, including 12 NHTSA safety recalls, each with affected years, powertrains, symptoms, pre-purchase checks and a source. Recall entries come from NHTSA's recall dataset on the DOT open-data portal, which may not list every campaign, so run the specific VIN through NHTSA's recall lookup.
