Lexus trim levels explained
By CarWhere Research · Updated
Lexus model names combine a series (IS, ES, NX, RX, GX, TX, LX and others) with a number that marks the powertrain — an h means hybrid, h+ plug-in hybrid and e battery-electric. Within each powertrain Lexus sells equipment trims such as Premium, Luxury and F SPORT versions, and the full F badge marks the dedicated performance cars. CarWhere lays out 174 trims across 13 Lexus models — GX, IS, TX, LC, ES, RX, NX, LS, RC, LX, UX, RZ and GS — with dated base MSRPs, engines and key equipment.

How can I tell what trim my Lexus is?
Badges can be swapped or deleted, so the reliable record is the original paperwork or the build record tied to the VIN, which shows the trim, engine and packages the car was built with. On Lexus models the number in the name (for example 350 or 500h) identifies the powertrain, not always the exact engine displacement.
