By CarWhere Research · Updated
CarWhere documents 43 Chrysler problems and 43 NHTSA safety recalls across 4 models — Pacifica, Voyager, 300 and Town & Country — organized by generation. Each entry lists affected model years, symptoms, what to check on a used vehicle before buying, and the sources behind it.
| Model | Generations covered | Documented issues | NHTSA recalls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chrysler Pacifica problems | Second generation (2017–present) | 16 | 16 |
| Chrysler Voyager problems | Modern Voyager (2020–2026) | 7 | 7 |
| Chrysler 300 problems | Second generation (2011–2023), First generation (2005–2010) | 11 | 11 |
| Chrysler Town & Country problems | Fifth generation (2008–2016), Fourth generation (2001–2007) | 9 | 9 |
Chrysler Pacifica problems
The biggest Pacifica recalls involve the Plug-in Hybrid: 2017–2022 hybrids are covered by park-outside battery fire campaigns (22V-077, 24V-536, 24V-538 and 26V-362). Gas models have recalls for 2017 engine stalls, a 2017–2019 battery ground and side curtain air bags on 2022–2026 vans.
Chrysler Voyager problems
The largest Chrysler Voyager recalls are shared with the Pacifica: side curtain air bags that may not hold pressure on 2022–2026 vans (25V-302, 25V-573 and 26V-189) and backup camera software (24V-436 and 26V-531). Smaller campaigns cover 2024 traction control and a 2025–2026 brake pedal sensor.
Chrysler 300 problems
The most serious Chrysler 300 recalls are air bag inflator campaigns: 2005–2010 driver inflators (15V-313) and 2005–2015 passenger inflators (16V-352, 18V-021, 19V-018), several with do-not-drive warnings. Later cars have recalls for 2018–2021 curtain air bags, 2011–2014 alternators and the 2012–2014 monostable shifter.
Chrysler Town & Country problems
The largest Town & Country recalls cover the 2008–2016 generation: the 2008–2010 ignition switch (14V-373), the 2008–2010 steering wheel emblem (20V-396) and the 2010–2014 driver-door vent window switch, which can overheat (14V-234). 2008–2009 vans also have air bag control unit and sliding door wiring recalls.
Confirm how a used Chrysler was built before you buy.
Engine, transmission and packages decide which issues apply. The CarWhere Chrysler build sheet reconstructs factory colors, options and packages from licensed VIN-level build data — availability is checked free, and it is $9.99 only when detailed build data is found for that VIN.
Frequently asked questions
What are the most common Chrysler problems?
They depend on the model and powertrain. Across the 4 Chrysler models covered here, the most documented items are plug-in Hybrid battery fire risk when parked (recalls 22V-077 and 24V-536) on the Pacifica; side curtain air bags may not hold pressure (recalls 25V-302, 25V-573, 26V-189) on the Voyager; driver frontal air bag inflator may rupture — do not drive (recall 15V-313) on the 300. Each model page lists issues by generation with sources.
How do I check a Chrysler for open recalls?
Enter the 17-character VIN on NHTSA’s recall lookup or the Chrysler owner site, or ask a Chrysler dealer to run it. Recall repairs are free. CarWhere’s known-issues pages list major recall campaign numbers by model and generation.
Are known issues the same as years to avoid?
No. Known-issues pages explain specific, documented mechanical problems and recalls. Years-to-avoid research ranks model years against each other, so the two answer different questions and are linked from each model page where both exist.
