By CarWhere Research · Updated

Ford’s 2026 F-150 order guide lists eight series: XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Tremor and Raptor, with Raptor R as the Raptor’s top equipment group. The step most buyers weigh is XLT 302A, which adds adaptive cruise, a 360-degree camera, remote start, heated seats and push-button start over lower XLT groups.

What is the F-150 Max Trailer Tow Package?

From 2024 on, Ford no longer offers a separate Max Trailer Tow Package. The Tow/Haul Package (53T) bundles an integrated trailer brake controller with an electronic-locking rear axle (3.55 with the 3.5L EcoBoost, 3.73 with the 5.0L V8), and the maximum ratings also need the optional 3.55 (XL5) or 3.73 (XL7) Max Tow electronic-locking axle; 53T is not offered with the 2.7L. On 2021–2023 trucks, Ford’s Max Trailer Tow Package (53C) included the 7-wire harness with 4/7-pin connector, a reinforced 2-inch receiver rated at 14,000 lb, the Smart Trailer Tow Connector, an upgraded rear axle and an upgraded rear bumper.

Ratings depend on engine, cab, bed, axle ratio, drivetrain and packages; the exact figure for one truck is in Ford’s official RV & Trailer Towing Guide, and CarWhere’s 2021 F-150 towing capacity by configuration lists every row of the 2021 guide. Use the towing capacity by VIN tool to match a specific truck.

Frequently asked questions

What are the F-150 trim levels?

Ford’s 2026 order guide lists XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Tremor and Raptor. Raptor R is the Raptor’s top equipment group (803A), and the electric F-150 Lightning is a separate model.

What is the 302A package on an F-150?

302A is the XLT Mid equipment group. In the 2026 order guide it adds Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 (adaptive cruise with stop-and-go and lane centering, a 360-degree camera and Pro Trailer Backup Assist), remote start, heated front seats, push-button start, a power-sliding rear window and Pro Power Onboard 400W outlets.

What is the difference between 302A and 303A?

303A is the XLT High group. It keeps everything in 302A and adds B&O audio with a subwoofer, the XLT Chrome Appearance Package, power-adjustable pedals, the Mobile Office Package and 40/console/40 seating.

What is the difference between XLT and Lariat?

Lariat is SuperCrew-only and has the 3.5L EcoBoost as standard, with 20-inch wheels, memory pedals and a power-sliding rear window in its 501A/502A groups. XLT starts with the 2.7L EcoBoost and comes as a SuperCab or SuperCrew.

Does the F-150 still have a Max Trailer Tow Package?

Not since 2024. Ford’s 2024 order guide deleted the Max Trailer Tow Package; the top tow ratings now require the Tow/Haul Package (53T) plus the optional Max Tow Axle.

How much can a 2026 F-150 tow?

Ford rates the 2026 F-150 at up to 13,500 lb with the 3.5L EcoBoost on a SuperCrew 4x4 with the 157.2-inch wheelbase, the Tow/Haul Package and the Max Tow Axle. The 2.7L EcoBoost tops out at 8,400 lb.
