Honda trim levels explained
By CarWhere Research · Updated
Honda trim names vary by model. Cars and crossovers typically start at LX or Sport and climb through EX, EX-L or Sport-L to Touring or Sport Touring; the Pilot, Odyssey and Prologue top out at Elite, and the Passport and Ridgeline use RTL. Hybrid trims carry “Hybrid” in the name, and TrailSport marks the off-road-oriented versions. CarWhere lays out 200 trims across 12 Honda models — Civic, Accord, CR-V, HR-V, Pilot, Passport, Odyssey, Ridgeline, Prologue, Fit, Insight and Element — with dated base MSRPs, engines and key equipment.

Single-motor models are EPA-rated at 308 miles of range; dual-motor AWD versions are rated 294 miles, or 283 for the Elite.
Honda Fit trim levels
Honda sold the Fit in the U.S. for 2007–2013 and 2015–2020. First- and second-generation cars (2007–2013) came as Fit or Fit Sport. The third generation (2015–2020) added LX, EX and EX-L trims, a 130-hp direct-injected engine and a CVT. Used buyers wanting driver-assist tech should look for a 2018–2020 car with Honda Sensing.
Honda Insight trim levels
Honda sold three U.S. Insight generations: the 2000–2006 aluminum-bodied hatchback, the 2010–2014 five-door hatchback (base, LX and EX), and the 2019–2022 sedan (LX, EX and Touring). For a used buyer, the 2019–2022 LX or EX is the easiest pick: 151-hp two-motor hybrid, standard Honda Sensing and an EPA 52 mpg combined rating.
Honda Element trim levels
Honda sold the Element in the U.S. for 2003–2011. It launched as DX and EX, became LX and EX by 2005, and added the lowered, 18-inch-wheel SC for 2007. 2007 and later cars get a 166-hp engine, a 5-speed automatic, side curtain airbags and stability assist, making a 2007–2011 EX the usual used pick.

How can I tell what trim my Honda is?
Badges can be swapped or deleted, so the reliable record is the original paperwork or the build record tied to the VIN, which shows the trim, engine and packages the car was built with. On Honda models the trim name (for example EX-L or Sport Touring) is on the rear badge and the window label, but used cars are often re-badged.
