Toyota 5.7L i-FORCE V8 (3UR-FE): years, specs & known problems
By CarWhere Research · Updated
The 3UR-FE is Toyota's 5.7-liter DOHC i-FORCE V8. It powered the 2007–2021 Tundra, 2008–2022 Sequoia and 2008–2021 Land Cruiser, rated at 381 hp and 401 lb-ft in all three. Toyota also sold a flex-fuel 3UR-FBE in the Tundra. Twin-turbo V6 engines replaced it in each model.
The 5.7L V8 uses an aluminum block and heads, double overhead cams with four valves per cylinder, dual independent VVT-i and an Acoustic Control Induction System that switches intake runner length in two stages. Toyota rates it at 381 hp and 401 lb-ft at 3,600 rpm, with 90 percent of peak torque available from 2,200 rpm, on regular fuel.
In the Tundra and Sequoia it was paired with a six-speed automatic; the Land Cruiser used a six-speed at first and an eight-speed in later years. Toyota offered a flex-fuel version, listed as the 3UR-FBE, in the Tundra. The 2021 Tundra, 2021 Land Cruiser and 2022 Sequoia were the last US models with the engine; the 2022 Tundra and 2023 Sequoia moved to the twin-turbo V6.
