BMW X1 Build Sheet by VIN
Part of the BMW build sheet by VIN lookup — same free availability check, same $9.99 report, for every BMW model.
A BMW X1 build sheet shows how one VIN left the factory: trim (xDrive28i), paint, upholstery and installed packages such as M Sport, Premium, Convenience and driver assistance. Entry-level luxury SUVs vary widely in equipment at similar prices, so the build record is the quickest way to compare two X1s fairly.

What a BMW X1 build sheet shows
An X1 build sheet lists the factory trim, colors and installed packages recorded for that VIN when the build data includes them. For a compact SUV, the packages that move the price — M Sport, Premium, heated seats and wheel, head-up display and assistance features — are exactly the ones that are hard to verify from a listing.
- • The factory trim, exterior color, and interior trim recorded for that VIN.
- • Installed factory options and packages, when the underlying build data includes them.
- • Original MSRP figures, when the underlying build data includes them — not every VIN or model year has this available.
- • A downloadable, printable PDF you can keep with the car’s records or share with a seller or lender.
Data density varies by model year and specific VIN — some return a full option and MSRP breakdown, others trim and color only. You see which applies before you pay. Not included: accident history, title brands (salvage, flood, lemon), odometer history, prior-owner count, service records.
BMW X1 options that matter most
Focus: F48 (codes) and U11. Codes shown are from the BMW option code reference, listed only where that reference documents the code for this model's generation family (shown in brackets). Options marked “by name” appear on the build record under their option name — the code varies by model year and is shown on the build sheet for that VIN.
| Option | Code (applies to) | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| M Sport Package |
| Common on the X1 and easy to imitate with wheels and badges. |
| Premium Package |
| US comfort bundle; contents change by model year. |
| Convenience Package | By name | Listed by name; contents vary by model year. |
| Head-up display |
| Verifiable on the record. |
| Harman Kardon surround sound |
| Audio upgrade worth confirming. |
| Seat heating, front |
| A cold-climate must-have often bundled in packages. |
| Steering wheel heating |
| Small option buyers filter for. |
| Electric glass roof (panorama) |
| The record confirms the factory roof. |
| Driving Assistance Package | By name | Listed by name on the record. |
On BMW production data the same codes are often written with an S prefix and A suffix (337 → S337A). See BMW SA option codes explained.
BMW X1 generations at a glance
| Chassis code | US model years | Build-sheet notes |
|---|---|---|
| E84 | US MY2013–2015 | First X1 sold in the US. |
| F48 | MY2016–2022 | sDrive28i and xDrive28i; US packages carry Z-codes. |
| U11 | MY2023–present | Current X1 (xDrive28i, M35i), built in Regensburg for the US. |
Where to find the VIN on a BMW X1
- • Through the lower driver-side corner of the windshield (US-market cars).
- • On the certification label in the driver-side door jamb.
- • On the title, registration and insurance card.
- • In the My BMW app once the car is added to an owner account.
- • Current US X1s are built in Germany, so the VIN starts WBX rather than the 5UX used on Spartanburg-built X models.
Example: a BMW X1 VIN, position by position
Illustrative example, not a specific car: WBX73EF08P5A12345 is a check-digit-valid pattern that the federal decoder reads as 2023 BMW X1 xDrive28i, plant Regensburg (NHTSA vPIC). Nothing in the 17 characters describes options — those live in the build record for the VIN. Decode any BMW VIN free with the BMW VIN decoder.
| Positions | Value | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1–3 | WBX | World Manufacturer Identifier — BMW AG (this X model is built in Germany). |
| 4–7 | 73EF | BMW model/type code — here an X1 xDrive28i. |
| 8 | 0 | Restraint-system / vehicle descriptor character. |
| 9 | 8 | Check digit (validates the other 16 characters). |
| 10 | P | Model year 2023. |
| 11 | 5 | Assembly plant: Regensburg, Germany. |
| 12–17 | A12345 | Production serial. BMW dealers often use the last 7 characters (positions 11–17) as the "short VIN". |
Build sheet vs. the BMW window sticker
The original window sticker (Monroney label) lists the factory options and their prices, but a used car often no longer has it, and BMW's own owner tools only show a car's records once the VIN is registered to an account. A CarWhere build sheet is the instant option when you are not the owner yet: This CarWhere build sheet is reconstructed from available VIN-level build data. It is not an official BMW Monroney label or factory certificate. Other routes — dealer printouts, service records, the BMW window sticker by VIN — are compared in how to find BMW options by VIN.

FAQ
How do I see what options a BMW X1 has?
Enter the VIN on this page for a free availability check. If detailed build data exists, the $9.99 build sheet lists the factory trim, colors and installed options and packages when the build data includes them.
Why does my X1 VIN start with WBX instead of 5UX?
The first three characters identify the manufacturer and plant region. Current US X1s are built in Regensburg, Germany and decode with WBX; X models built at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina start 5UX.
Are option codes shown for the newest X1?
The option code reference on this page documents codes by E/F/G generation family; on current U11 cars, the build sheet for the VIN shows the installed options and packages when the build data includes them.
Is the CarWhere X1 build sheet an official BMW document?
No. It is reconstructed from licensed VIN-level build data and is not an official BMW Monroney label or factory certificate.
