What changed in the U11
The third X1 grew in every dimension and adopted BMW's curved display and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission in place of the 8-speed automatic. In the US it is all-wheel drive only; the xDrive28i uses a North America-specific tune of the 2.0L turbo four rated at 241 hp and 295 lb-ft. The M35i xDrive arrived for 2024 with 312 hp from a higher-output version of the same engine, plus firmer M Performance suspension and brakes. The xDrive28i's base price rose noticeably for 2024 as more equipment became standard.

E84 X1 (2013–2015) specs
Chassis code: E84 sav
What changed in the E84
The first X1 was built from 2009, but BMW held it back from the US until the 2013 model year, when it arrived already in facelifted form, so there is no separate US LCI. The US lineup paired a 2.0L turbo four (N20) in rear-drive sDrive28i and all-wheel-drive xDrive28i form with an 8-speed automatic, and a 3.0L turbo inline-six (N55) in the xDrive35i, which kept a 6-speed automatic. It rode on a rear-drive platform related to the E90 3 Series, the last X1 to do so. US sales ended after the 2015 model year when the front-drive-based F48 replaced it.
