2027 C8 lineup and starting prices

For 2027 Chevrolet sells six C8 models. The Stingray, Grand Sport and Grand Sport X now share the 6.7L LS6 V8, which replaces the 6.2L LT2 used from 2020 through 2026. C8 Corvette problems & recalls

Front trunk release and latch (2020) (2020)

Two 2020 recalls cover the front trunk: the inside release button could stop working after the car sat for ten minutes (20V461000), and the car could be driven with the front trunk lid unlatched despite warnings (20V489000).[22]

Seat belt retractors (2020, 2024–2025)

A small 2020 campaign covered driver belt retractors that might not lock in a crash (20V581000). For 2024–2025, retractors could lock in the stowed position and leave a belt out of reach (24V418000).[22]

Fuel spill during refueling (2023–2026)

Cars with a left-side radiator/fan combination can spill excess fuel into the filler pocket while refueling, where it can reach an ignition source (25V536000).[22]

Best and worst C8 Corvette years

Each call is tied to a documented fact — a mechanical change, a recall or a published rating — not opinion.

2020Check carefully

Launch year: four NHTSA recall campaigns name the 2020 Corvette (front trunk release, front trunk latch, brake boost sensor, seat belt retractor). Confirm each was completed.[22]

2023–2026Check carefully

Recall 25V536000 (fuel spill into the filler pocket while refueling) covers 2023–2026 cars with a left-side radiator/fan; confirm the repair.[22]

2026Best bet

First year of the redesigned three-screen cockpit across the lineup, and the first year of the ZR1X.[13][14]

2027Best bet

6.7L LS6 V8 raises the Stingray to 535 hp and 520 lb-ft; GM says a 2027 Stingray 1LT topped 200 mph without Z51.[17][19]

What to check before buying a used C8 Corvette

  1. Run the VIN for open recalls. A 2020 car should show 20V461000, 20V489000, 20V588000 and (if included) 20V581000 as completed.
  2. On a 2023–2026 car, confirm recall 25V536000 (fuel spill while refueling) has been done.
  3. On a 2024–2025 car, pull both seat belts out fully and confirm recall 24V418000 is closed.
  4. On a 2025–2026 car, confirm the turn-signal software recall 26V213000 has been done.
  5. Confirm the engine: 2020–2026 Stingrays use the 6.2L LT2; 2027 Stingray, Grand Sport and Grand Sport X use the 6.7L LS6.
  6. Check the window sticker or factory build record for performance packages (Z51 on Stingray, Z07 on Z06, ZTK on ZR1/ZR1X); they change brakes, tires and top speed.
  7. Test the front trunk release and lid latch on 2020 cars, the subject of two recalls.
  8. On an E-Ray, ZR1X or Grand Sport X, start the car in Stealth mode and confirm it drives on electric power before the V8 starts.
  9. For a 2026-or-later interior, look for the 12.7-inch center display, 14-inch driver display and 6.6-inch side touchscreen.
