Chevrolet figures, read November 3, 2026. “Combined” = V8 plus front electric motor (all-wheel drive).

Why the ZR1X is the quickest

The ZR1 uses Chevrolet's twin-turbocharged LT7 5.5L V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft and an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The ZR1X adds an electric drive unit on the front axle, giving all-wheel drive and 1,250 combined horsepower — so it launches harder even though both cars share the 233-mph top speed figure.

The same logic applies one step down: the Grand Sport X pairs the Grand Sport's naturally aspirated V8 with front electric drive (721 combined hp) and is quicker to 60 than the 670-hp Z06, while the Z06 keeps its flat-plane LT6 for track use.

The fastest Corvettes by generation

  • C8 (2020–) — ZR1X and ZR1 at 233 mph; the first mid-engine Corvettes.
  • C7 (2014–2019) — the 2019 ZR1, 755 hp supercharged 6.2L V8, rated at 212 mph.
  • Older ZR1s and Z06s — prior generations' ZR1 and Z06 models set the benchmarks of their day; see the Corvette history for each generation.
