812 Superfast2017–2021Premiered at Geneva in March 2017 as the successor to the F12berlinetta line; shipments completed in 2021. Later 812 versions in Ferrari’s range included the 812 GTS, 812 Competizione and 812 Competizione A.[1][3]

Engine and chassis

Ferrari called the 812 Superfast the most powerful and fastest Ferrari in its history at launch. The new 6.5-liter V12 makes a specific output of 123 cv per liter, uses 350-bar direct injection for the first time on a Ferrari high-performance engine, and delivers 80% of its torque by 3,500 rpm.

It was the first Ferrari with electric power steering (EPS) and introduced Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0, a rear-steer system, alongside Side Slip Control 5.0.[1]

Design

The Ferrari Styling Centre gave the 812 Superfast a fastback two-box shape with a high tail that Ferrari links to the 1969 365 GTB4, four round tail-lights, and an aerodynamic by-pass in the rear flank. It launched in a new color, Rosso Settanta, marking Ferrari’s 70th anniversary.[1]

What to check before buying a used 812 Superfast

For a used 812 Superfast, the key check is recall completion: three NHTSA campaigns cover it, for the rear window bond, the fuel vapor separator and the brake fluid reservoir cap. A Ferrari dealer can confirm each remedy by VIN, and the car should also carry its Ferrari seven-year scheduled maintenance record.

  • Rear window recall 20V614000

2018–2020 812 Superfast rear windows may not have been bonded correctly; dealers replace the rear window free of charge.[5]

  • Fuel vapor separator recall 19V090000

Covers 812 Superfast among other models: the fuel vapor separator may crack and leak fuel. Dealers replace it free of charge.[5]

  • Brake reservoir cap recall 22V536000

Covers 2018–2022 812 models: the brake fluid reservoir cap may not vent, risking a fluid leak. Dealers replace the cap and update warning software.[5]

  • Seven-year maintenance record

Ferrari’s 7 Year Maintenance Program has been free on new cars since 2011, so a 2018–2021 car should show dealer service records.[3]
