The Hurricane High Output engine
The RHO uses the 3.0-liter Hurricane High Output straight-six, a twin-turbo engine from the Stellantis Hurricane family. Ram rates it at 540 hp and 521 lb-ft and pairs it with an eight-speed automatic and a full-time BorgWarner transfer case.
Ram says this powertrain is 150 pounds lighter than the previous performance model's. The EPA rates the RHO at 14 mpg city, 16 highway and 15 combined on premium fuel, unchanged for the 2025, 2026 and 2027 model years.[1][2][3][4]
Suspension and off-road hardware
The front suspension uses forged aluminum upper and lower control arms. Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive shocks adjust damping continuously, with remote nitrogen reservoirs and internal hydraulic jounce control to limit bottoming.
At the rear, a five-link coil setup with a Dana 60 axle allows up to 14 inches of axle travel, which Ram says is more than 40% more rear travel than other Ram 1500 models. The RHO rides 2 inches higher than other 1500s on 35-inch tires, for 11.8 inches of ground clearance, and the body is 8 inches wider with a 6-inch wider track.[1]
