Ford Mustang Build Sheet by VIN

Same lookup as the Ford build sheet by VIN — same free availability check, same $9.99 report, for every Ford model. Also: Ford window sticker by VIN · Ford VIN decoder · Ford Mustang trim levels · Ford Mustang known issues.

A Mustang build sheet shows how one VIN was factory-built: series and equipment group, transmission, and the options enthusiasts pay for — the GT Performance Package (67J), MagneRide damping (96D), RECARO seats (21N) and active exhaust. Two GTs can differ a lot. CarWhere checks the VIN free and charges $9.99 only when detailed build data exists.

What a Ford Mustang build sheet shows

On a Mustang the build sheet settles the arguments listings start: whether a GT really has the Performance Package, whether the dampers are MagneRide, manual or automatic, which seats, and whether the active-valve exhaust is factory. Those are the options that move used-Mustang values.

  • • The factory trim, exterior color, and interior trim recorded for that VIN.
  • • Installed factory options and packages, when the underlying build data includes them.
  • • Original MSRP figures, when the underlying build data includes them — not every VIN or model year has this available.
  • • A downloadable, printable PDF you can keep with the vehicle’s records or share with a seller or lender.

Data density varies by model year and specific VIN — some vehicles return a full option and MSRP breakdown, others return trim and color only. We tell you which one applies before you pay. Not included: accident history, title brands (salvage, flood, lemon), odometer history, prior-owner count, service records.

Ford Mustang equipment group codes by series

From Ford’s 2025 Mustang Order Guide (dated 02/10/25). The equipment group is the three-digit-plus-letter code (like 302A) that sets the content level within a series. Ford reuses these numbers across model years with different contents, so read the code together with the year — more in Ford equipment group codes explained.

Ford Mustang options that matter most

Codes are transcribed from Ford’s own 2025 order guide (see Sources), with what they apply to in brackets. Options marked “by name” appear on the build record under their option name — the code varies by model year and is shown on the build sheet for that VIN when the build data includes it.

OptionFord code (applies to)Why it matters
GT Performance Package
  • 67J (GT / GT Premium, 2025)
Includes a TORSEN differential (3.73 with the manual, 3.55 with the automatic) and unlocks MagneRide. The most-asked-about Mustang option.
MagneRide damping system
  • 96D (requires GT Performance Package (67J))
Adaptive magnetorheological dampers — standard on Dark Horse, optional on GT. Hard to retrofit.
RECARO sport seats
  • 21N (RECARO sport seats, 2025)
Fixed-back RECAROs are a strong signal of a performance-spec car; the 2025 guide lists the leather-trimmed version as Fastback-only.
Transmission
  • 44X (6-speed manual with rev matching (GT))
Manual GTs are increasingly sought after. EcoBoost Mustangs are automatic-only in the 2025 guide.
Active Valve Performance Exhaust
  • 19W (EcoBoost)
  • 19X (GT)
Factory active exhaust vs an aftermarket system — the record tells you which.
Mach 1 / Shelby GT350 / GT500 / Bullitt (S550)By nameLimited or special models — confirm the factory configuration on the build record before paying a special-model premium.

Exterior color is a separate two-character code on the door-jamb label — see the Ford paint code reference and Ford door code explained.

Ford window sticker vs build sheet

Start with the free Ford window sticker by VIN lookup: when Ford's system has the original Monroney label for that VIN, it lists the factory options and packages with their prices. When no sticker comes back, the build sheet is the replacement — This CarWhere build sheet is reconstructed from available VIN-level build data. It is not an official Ford Monroney label or factory certificate. The other routes (door-jamb label, dealer printout, FordPass) are compared in how to find Ford options by VIN.

FAQ

How do I know if my Mustang GT has the Performance Package?

The VIN does not encode it. Check the window sticker or the build record: on 2024+ cars the GT Performance Package is option 67J in Ford’s order guide and includes a TORSEN limited-slip differential. Wheels and badges alone are not proof.

Does every Mustang with the Performance Package have MagneRide?

No. In Ford’s 2025 order guide MagneRide (96D) is a separate option that requires the GT Performance Package (67J). It is standard on Dark Horse. The build record shows whether a specific car has it.

Can I get a Mustang window sticker by VIN?

Try the free Ford window sticker lookup first. If Ford’s system has no sticker for that VIN, a build sheet reconstructs the factory configuration from licensed VIN-level build data.

How much is a Mustang build sheet by VIN?

Checking whether detailed build data exists for the VIN is free and happens before you pay. If it does, the report — including the build sheet — is $9.99 one-time, no subscription. If it doesn’t, you are not charged.

Is the CarWhere Mustang build sheet an official Ford document?

No. This CarWhere build sheet is reconstructed from available VIN-level build data. It is not an official Ford Monroney label or factory certificate. When Ford’s system has the original window sticker for a VIN, the free Ford window sticker lookup returns that document instead.
