The AMG ONE: Formula 1 power for the road
The AMG ONE uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain derived from the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 car. Mercedes-AMG quotes 0–200 km/h in 7.0 seconds and 0–300 km/h in 15.6 seconds. In 2024 it lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:29.090, beating its own production-car record of 6:35.183 from 2022. The full story is in the Mercedes-AMG ONE history; its price status is covered in most expensive Mercedes models.
Fast Mercedes from earlier eras
Before the AMG ONE, the fastest Mercedes road cars came from motorsport programs. The CLK GTR was a road-legal version of the late-1990s GT1 racing car, built in a small series to homologate it. The SLR McLaren (2003–2009) was a supercharged V8 grand tourer developed with McLaren. Going further back, the 300 SL “Gullwing” of the 1950s was a road car derived from Mercedes' W 194 racing sports car. For what the AMG numbers mean, see what AMG stands for.
Speed you can verify: the options behind the numbers
On many AMG models, the highest quoted top speed requires a factory option such as the AMG Driver's Package, and track-focused equipment — carbon-ceramic brakes, aero kits, performance seats — is chosen individually. A used AMG's Mercedes-Benz data card records which of these it left the factory with.
