Ford X-Plan vs A-Plan vs Z-Plan: Who Qualifies and How Pricing Works

Ford X-Plan is supplier and partner pricing, A-Plan is Ford employee and family pricing, and Z-Plan is for Ford salaried employees and retirees. Each requires a Ford-issued PIN and a participating dealer. Plan prices are fixed by Ford and printed on the plan pricing site, so there is little to negotiate; A- and Z-Plan prices are the lowest.

How Ford plan pricing is set

A plan price is a fixed figure Ford calculates for each vehicle and option, shown on the plan pricing site after you sign in with your PIN. The dealer sells at that price; you do not negotiate down from MSRP. Participating dealers describe the A- and Z-Plan price as roughly the vehicle's invoice minus the dealer's holdback and regional advertising fees, plus a small program fee, and the X-Plan price as near invoice. Ford itself does not publish the formula.

How to use a Ford X-Plan or A-Plan PIN

  • Confirm eligibility. X-Plan: get your company's partner code (HR or benefits usually has it). A/Z-Plan: sign in through Ford's employee or retiree plan site.
  • Generate a PIN for the buyer — the employee or an eligible household member. Ford limits how many PINs can be issued in a year.
  • Find a participating dealer and confirm they accept the plan on the specific vehicle before you visit.
  • Bring the PIN and proof (employee ID, pay stub or partner documentation). The dealer verifies the PIN and writes the deal at the plan price.
  • Apply eligible incentives and your trade-in on top. Taxes, title, registration and destination still apply.

Exclusions and stacking with incentives

Ford's plan site notes that “some vehicles, trims or options you select may not qualify.” During the 2025 employee-pricing-for-everyone campaign Ford excluded Raptors, specialty Mustang and Bronco models, the 2025 Expedition and Navigator and Super Duty trucks — a useful guide to the kinds of high-demand models that are often left out. Many public rebates combine with plan pricing, but some financing offers are mutually exclusive, so ask the dealer to show both the plan deal and the best public offer.

Is a Ford plan price a good deal?

Usually yes on volume models, because the price is fixed below what most retail shoppers pay. On models in short supply it may be the only discount available. On slow-selling models a well-negotiated retail deal plus incentives can come close, so compare. Shopping a lightly used Ford instead? Ford's certified program is covered in Ford Blue Advantage.

Buying a plan-priced Ford off the lot? Check its packages

Plan pricing applies to the truck or SUV as built, so check the exact factory options and packages of the vehicle you are looking at before you buy — equipment group, tow package, engine. For a used Ford, enter the VIN on the Ford build sheet page: the availability check is free, and you pay $9.99 only if detailed build data exists for that vehicle.

FAQ

What is the difference between Ford X-Plan, A-Plan and Z-Plan?

They are Ford’s private-offer pricing plans for different groups. X-Plan (the Partner Recognition program) covers employees and household members of eligible Ford partner companies such as suppliers and organizations. A-Plan is Ford’s employee and employee-family plan. Z-Plan covers Ford salaried employees and retirees and their eligible family. A- and Z-Plan prices are generally lower than X-Plan.

Who qualifies for Ford X-Plan?

Employees, retirees and eligible household members of companies and organizations that participate in Ford’s Partner Recognition program, typically suppliers and business partners. Your employer provides a partner code, and you generate a personal PIN on Ford’s partner portal before visiting a participating dealer. Ford ended X-Plan eligibility for shareholders in 2022.

Is A-Plan or X-Plan pricing better?

A-Plan. Participating Ford dealers describe A/Z-Plan pricing as roughly dealer invoice minus holdback and advertising fees plus a small program fee, while X-Plan sits closer to invoice. Ford does not publish the formula itself; the plan price for a specific vehicle appears on the plan pricing site once you sign in.

Can you combine X-Plan or A-Plan with rebates?

Often, yes. Many public retail incentives (customer cash, some financing offers) can be combined with plan pricing, but some vehicles, trims and options do not qualify, and individual offers can exclude plan buyers. Ford’s plan site and the dealer confirm eligibility for the exact vehicle.

Do all Ford dealers accept X-Plan and A-Plan?

No. Dealer participation is voluntary. Ford’s own A/Z and X-Plan pricing site tells shoppers to contact their local dealer “to determine their level of participation in the program and final vehicle pricing.” Call ahead before you go.

Did Ford offer employee pricing to everyone?

Yes, twice recently. Ford’s “From America, For America” campaign opened employee pricing to all U.S. customers from April 3, 2025 (extended to July 6, 2025), and a 2026 campaign ran through July 6, 2026. Both excluded certain specialty models, such as Raptors.
