Infiniti G37 problems and known issues

By CarWhere Research · Updated

The G37 has two recalls in the NHTSA dataset that name it. Recall 08V521 tests and, if needed, replaces the passenger seat occupant sensor on 2008 G37 Coupes because it could switch the passenger air bag off. Recall 11V538 replaces power window switches on some 2011–2012 G37 Coupes whose auto-reverse needs too much force to trigger.

CarWhere lists 2 documented G37 issues, including 2 NHTSA safety recalls, each with affected years, powertrains, symptoms, pre-purchase checks and a source. Recall entries come from NHTSA's recall dataset on the DOT open-data portal, which may not list every campaign, so run the specific VIN through NHTSA's recall lookup.

Certain 2011–2012 G37 Coupes and 2011 Nissan 370Zs built July 2 to August 29, 2011 have a power window switch controller with a programming error. The window needs more force than Nissan's specification before it reverses, which can cause a pinch injury. Dealers replace the power window switches free of charge. The 1,788 figure covers units across all listed models, not just the G37.

Symptoms

  • Window keeps closing on an object instead of reversing

Check before buying

  • Run the 17-digit VIN through NHTSA's recall lookup and confirm the remedy shows as complete
  • Ask an Infiniti retailer for the repair order showing the power window switch replacement

Nissan recalled 2007–2008 G35 Sedans, 2008 G37 Coupes and EX35s, along with several Nissan models, because a part in the occupant classification system under the passenger seat cushion may be out of specification. That can interrupt the signal to the air bag control unit and switch the passenger air bag off. Dealers test the signal and replace the seat cushion with its sensor if needed, free of charge. The 204,361 figure covers units across all listed models, not just the G37.

Symptoms

  • Passenger air bag status light shows OFF with an adult in the seat
  • Air bag warning light on the dash
