Infiniti QX60 problems
The most serious documented QX60 problem is a brake-fluid leak inside the ABS pump that can short its circuit board and start a fire, covered by recalls 18V601 and 19V807 for 2017–2019 models. The 2013 JX35, which became the QX60 for 2014, and early QX60s were also included in several passenger air bag sensor recalls. Newer QX60s have recalls for seats, headlights, seat belts and 2025 front brake calipers.
Infiniti QX80 problems
The most serious documented problems on the QX80 and the 2011–2013 QX56 it replaced are driver air bag inflators that can rupture, covered by recalls 14V668 (2013 QX56 and 2014 QX80) and 20V188 (2011–2012 QX56). V8 models also had a fuel pressure sensor leak recall and a 2020–2021 fuel pump recall. The all-new 2025 QX80 has software recalls for its rear camera display.
Infiniti Q50 problems
The Q50 recall with the widest reach is 24V470, which replaces driveshafts that can fatigue and break on two-wheel-drive 2014–2018 models. Early cars with Direct Adaptive Steering, the Q50's steer-by-wire system, got two steering software recalls, and the 2014 Q50 Hybrid had three hybrid-system recalls. Later issues include 2.0L fuel pump software stalls, a 2021 engine computer stall and rear camera software.
Infiniti QX50 problems
The most serious documented QX50 problem is recall 25V437, which covers 2019–2022 QX50s with the 2.0L VC-Turbo engine because bearing defects can lead to engine failure and, in some cases, an oil fire. Dealers reprogram the engine computer. Other QX50 recalls cover a knee air bag cover, steering knuckles, a door latch, a tire placard and driver air bag inflators.
Infiniti Q60 problems
The all-new Q60 coupe, launched for 2017, has a short recall list with no engine-hardware campaigns in the NHTSA dataset. The main items are a fuel pump software stall on 2017 Q60s with the 2.0L engine (17V476), a 2021 engine computer stall (21V234), rear seat belts on some 2020 cars and two rear camera software fixes.
Infiniti QX55 problems
The most serious documented QX55 problem is recall 25V437, which covers 2022 QX55s with the 2.0L VC-Turbo engine because bearing defects can lead to engine failure and, in some cases, an oil fire. Dealers reprogram the engine computer for free. The only other QX55 recall in the NHTSA dataset replaced an incorrect front passenger door latch on some 2023 models.
Infiniti G37 problems
The G37 has two recalls in the NHTSA dataset that name it. Recall 08V521 tests and, if needed, replaces the passenger seat occupant sensor on 2008 G37 Coupes because it could switch the passenger air bag off. Recall 11V538 replaces power window switches on some 2011–2012 G37 Coupes whose auto-reverse needs too much force to trigger.
Infiniti G35 problems
Both G35 recalls in the NHTSA dataset that name the car involve the passenger air bag. Recall 10V175 repairs a seat-sensor wiring harness on 2005–2007 G35 Sedans and Coupes that could wear and stop the air bag deploying, and 08V521 tests the occupant sensor on 2007–2008 G35 Sedans. Earlier recall records in the dataset do not name models, so they cannot be matched to the G35 here.
Confirm how a used Infiniti was built before you buy.
Engine, transmission and packages decide which issues apply. The CarWhere Infiniti build sheet reconstructs factory colors, options and packages from licensed VIN-level build data — availability is checked free, and it is $9.99 only when detailed build data is found for that VIN.
Frequently asked questions
What are the most common Infiniti problems?
They depend on the model and powertrain. Across the 8 Infiniti models covered here, the most documented items are front brake calipers may break (FMVSS 135) (recall 25V173) on the QX60; certification label lists the wrong axle weight rating (22-inch wheels) (recall 26V455) on the QX80; driveshaft can fatigue and break (2WD) (recall 24V470) on the Q50. Each model page lists issues by generation with sources.
How do I check an Infiniti for open recalls?
Enter the 17-character VIN on NHTSA’s recall lookup or the brand’s owner site, or ask an Infiniti dealer to run it. Recall repairs are free. CarWhere’s known-issues pages list major recall campaign numbers by model and generation.
Are known issues the same as years to avoid?
No. Known-issues pages explain specific, documented mechanical problems and recalls. Years-to-avoid research ranks model years against each other, so the two answer different questions and are linked from each model page where both exist.
