Supercapacitor hybrid system
Instead of a battery, the Sián uses a lithium-ion supercapacitor in a low-voltage 48V system with peak currents up to 600A. Lamborghini says it is three times more powerful than a battery of the same weight. The electric motor drives the rear wheels and recharges the capacitor under braking.
Lamborghini lists the coupe’s maximum speed as 355 km/h and describes it as exceeding 220 mph (350 km/h); the Roadster page lists more than 350 km/h. Rear vent flaps made of temperature-sensitive smart materials open on their own when exhaust heat rises.[1][2]
The name
What to check before buying a used Sián FKP 37
NHTSA’s open recall dataset has no Lamborghini campaign that names the Sián in its defect summary, so focus on identity and documentation. Lamborghini says 63 coupes and 19 roadsters were built, and EPA lists them as the 2020–2021 Aventador Sián, so check that the VIN, title and paperwork match.
Confirm coupe or roadster identity
Lamborghini states 63 coupes and 19 roadsters were produced; paperwork should match the body style.[3][2]
Run a VIN recall lookup
No NHTSA campaign summary names the Sián, so a VIN lookup is the way to confirm nothing is open.[6]
Hybrid system documentation
The 48V supercapacitor system is unique to the Sián family and the Countach LPI 800-4; ask for dealer service records covering it.[1][7]
