992.2 911 specs (2025–present)
What changed in the 992.2
The 2025 update brought the first hybrid 911s: the GTS uses a 3.6L flat-6 with an electric turbocharger and an electric motor in the PDK, rated at 532 hp combined. The Carrera's 3.0L engine was revised to 388 hp, and the Carrera T returned as a manual-only model. The Turbo S followed for 2026 with a 701 hp twin-electric-turbo T-Hybrid system, and the manual-only GT3 S/C was added for 2027.

992.1 911 specs (2020–2024)
What changed in the 992.1
The 992 standardized the wide rear body across the range, adopted staggered 20/21-inch wheels and introduced an 8-speed PDK; the base engine remained a 3.0L twin-turbo flat-6 with more output. Turbo models moved to a 3.7L engine, and the GT3 gained double-wishbone front suspension. The run added several limited or niche models, including the Sport Classic, S/T and the off-road Dakar.

991.2 911 specs (2017–2019)
What changed in the 991.2
The mid-cycle update moved every Carrera, Targa and GTS to a 3.0L twin-turbo flat-6, so turbocharging became standard across the range for the first time. Rear-axle steering became available outside the GT and Turbo cars, and the infotainment system was replaced. GT models kept naturally aspirated 4.0L engines, with a manual returning to the GT3, while the GT2 RS used a 700 hp twin-turbo 3.8L.

991.1 911 specs (2012–2016)
What changed in the 991.1
The 991 was a new platform with a longer wheelbase and extensive aluminum construction, and it introduced the first 7-speed manual in a production car alongside the 7-speed PDK. Carrera models kept naturally aspirated engines (3.4L Carrera, 3.8L Carrera S), and electric power steering replaced hydraulic assist. The Targa returned with a classic roll-hoop look and an automated roof, and the GT3 adopted rear-axle steering and PDK only.

996 911 specs (1999–2005)
What changed in the 996
The 996 was an all-new 911 with a water-cooled four-valve flat-six, a longer wheelbase and a lighter, larger body that shared parts with the Boxster. The original 3.4-litre engine (300 PS) grew to 3.6 litres (320 PS) in the 2002 facelift, which also brought Turbo-style headlights. The Turbo, GT2 and GT3 used a separate dry-sump engine family derived from racing, and the GT2 made ceramic brakes standard.

993 911 specs (1995–1998)
What changed in the 993
The 993 was the last air-cooled 911. It added a multi-link aluminium rear axle and a six-speed manual, and from 1996 VarioRam variable intake lifted the 3.6 to 285 PS. The Turbo switched to twin turbochargers and standard all-wheel drive. A glass-roof Targa and wide-body Carrera 4S and Carrera S widened the range.

964 911 specs (1989–1994)
What changed in the 964
Porsche says roughly 85 percent of the 964's parts were new. Under the familiar shape sat a 3.6-litre twin-spark air-cooled engine, coil-spring suspension, power steering and ABS. The Carrera 4 launched the range as the first all-wheel-drive production 911, and the rear-drive Carrera 2 followed with the optional Tiptronic automatic. A deploying rear spoiler and a metal catalytic converter were standard.

G-series/930 911 specs (1974–1989)
What changed in the G-series/930
The G-series reworked the 911 body around 5 mph impact bumpers with rubber bellows, and Porsche switched to hot-dip galvanised steel from 1975. Displacement grew from 2.7 to 3.0 litres (SC) and then 3.2 litres (Carrera), which brought Motronic engine management. A Cabriolet joined the Coupe and Targa for 1983, and the G50 gearbox arrived for 1987. The 930 Turbo was Porsche's first turbocharged road car. It left the US market after 1979 and returned from 1986 to 1989.
