What changed in the 968
The 968 evolved the 944 S2 into the final four-cylinder transaxle Porsche, reusing most of its bodyshell but adding a 993-preview nose with exposed-lens pop-up headlights. Its 3.0-liter four introduced VarioCam intake-cam phasing and was paired with a new 6-speed manual or a 4-speed Tiptronic. It was built in Zuffenhausen from 1991 to 1995. The lightweight 968 Club Sport and the 968 Turbo S were not sold in the US.
